. NOTE ON EQUIVARIANT I-FUNCTION OF LOCAL P n HYENHO LHO arxiv: v1 [math.ag] 15 Jul 2018 Abstract. Several properties of a hyepergeometric series related to Gromov-Witten theory of some Calabi-Yau geometries was studied in [8]. These properties play basic role in the study of higher genus Gromov-Witten theories. We extend the results of [8] to equivariant setting for the study of higher genus equivariant Gromov- Witten theories of some Calabi-Yau geometries. Contents 0. Introduction 1 1. Admissibility of differential equations 3 2. Local P Local P 2 7 References 9 0. Introduction 0.1. Local P n geometries. Equivariant local P n theories can be constructed as follows. Let the algebraic torus T n+1 = C n+1 act with the standard linearization on P n with weights λ 0,..., λ n on the vector space H 0 P n, O P n1. Let M g P n, d be the moduli space of stable maps to P n equipped with the canonical T n+1 -action, and let C M g P n, d, f : C P n, S = f O P n 1 C be the standard universal structures. The equivariant Gromov-Witten invariants of the local P n are defined via the equivariant integrals 1 N GW,n g,d = [M gp n,d] vir e Rπ f O P n n 1. The integral 1 defines a rational function in λ i N GW,n g,d Cλ 0,..., λ n. Date: July
2 HYENHO LHO We associate Gromov-Witten generating series by Fg GW,n Q = Ñg,d GW Q d Cλ 0,..., λ n [[Q]]. d=0 Motivated by mirror symmetry [1, 2, 7], we can make the following predictions about the genus g generating series F GW,n g. A There exist a finitely generated subring G Cλ 0,..., λ n [[Q]] which contains Fg GW,n for all g. B The series Fg GW,n satisfy holomorphic anomaly equations, i.e. recursive formulas for the derivative of Fg GW,n with respect to some generators in G I-function. I-fucntion defined by n+1d 1 k=1 n + 1H kz I n = n d i=0 k H + kz λ q d HTP n, C[[q]], i d=0 is the central object in the study of Gromov-Witten invariants of local P n geometry. See [5], [6] for the arguments. Several important properties of the function I n was studied in [8] after the specialization 2 λ i = ζ i n+1 where ζ n+1 is primitive n + 1-th root of unity. For the study of full equivariant Gromov-Witten theories, we extend the result of [8] without the specialization Picard-Fuchs equation and Birkhoff factorization. Define differential operators D = q d dq, M = H + zd. The function I n satisfies following Picard-Fuchs equation n n M λ i q n + 1M kz I n = 0. i=0 k=0 The restriction I n H=λi admits following asymptotic form 3 I n H=λi = e µ z R 0,i + R 1,i z + R 2,i z with series µ i, R k,i Cλ 0,..., λ n [[q]]. A derivation of 3 is obtained from [3, Theorem 5.4.1] and the uniqueness lemma in [3, Section 7.7]. The series µ i and R k,i are found
NOTE ON EQUIVARIANT I-FUNCTION OF LOCAL P n 3 by solving defferential equations obtained from the coefficient of z k. For example, λ i + Dµ i = L i, where L i q is the series in q defined by the root of following degree n + 1 polynomial in L n L λ i 1 n+1 ql n+1. i=0 with initial conditions, L i 0 = λ i. Let f n be the polynomial of degree n in variable x over Cλ 0,..., λ n defined by n f n x := 1 k ks k+1 x n k, k=0 where s k is k-th elementary symmetric function in λ 0,..., λ n. The ring G n := Cλ 0,..., λ n [L ±1 0,..., L ±1 n, f n L 0 1 2,..., fn L n 1 2 ] will play a basic role. The following Conjecture was proven under the specializaiton 2 in [8, Theorem 4]. Conjecture 1. For all k 0, we have R k,i G n. Conjecture 1 for the case n = 1 will be proven in Section 2. Conjecture 1 for the case n = 2 will be proven in Section 3 under the specialization 11. In fact, the argument in Section 3 proves Conjecture 1 for all n under the specialization which makes f n x into power of a linear polynomial Acknowledgments. I am grateful to R. Pandharipande for useful discussions. I was supported by the grant ERC-2012-AdG MCSK. 1. Admissibility of differential equations Let R be a commutative ring. Fix a polynomial fx R[x]. We consider a differential operator of level n with following forms. 4 PA lp, f[x 0,..., X n+1 ] = DX n+1 n l 0, p 0 A lp D p X n l,
4 HYENHO LHO where D := d dx and A lp R[x] f := R[x][f 1 ]. We assume that only finitely many A lp are not zero. Definition 2. Let R i be the solutions of the equations for k 0, 5 PA lp, f[x k+1,..., X k+n ] = 0, with R 0 = 1. We use the conventions X i = 0 for i < 0. We say differential equations 5 is admissible if the solutions R k satisfies for k 0, R k R[x] f. Remark 3. Note that the admissibility of PA lp, f in Definition 2 do not depend on the choice of the solutions R k. Lemma 4. Let f be a degree one polynomial in x. Each A R[x] f can be written uniquely as A = a i f i i Z with finitely many non-zero a i R. We define the order OrdA of A with respect to f by smallest i such that a i is not zero. Then PA lp, f[x 0,..., X n+1 ] := DX n+1 A lp D p X n l = 0, n l 0, p 0 is admissible if following condition holds: OrdA l0 2, 6 OrdA l1 0, OrdA lp p + 1 for p 2. Proof. The proof follows from simple induction argument. Lemma 5. Let f be a degree two polynomial in x. Denote by R f the subspace of R[x] f generated by f i for i Z. Each A R f can be written uniquely as A = a i f i i Z with finitely many non-zero a i R. We define the order OrdA of A R f with respect to f by smallest i such that a i is not zero. Then PA lp, f[x 0,..., X n+1 ] := DX n+1 A lp D p X n l = 0, is admissible if following condition holds: n l 0, p 0
NOTE ON EQUIVARIANT I-FUNCTION OF LOCAL P n 5 A lp = B lp if p is odd, A lp = df dx B lp if p is even, where B lp are elements of R f with OrdB l0 2, [ p 1 ] OrdB lp 2 for p 1. Proof. Since f is degree two polynomial in x, we have d 2 f dx, df 2 dx 2 R f. Then the proof of Lemma follows from simple induction argument. 2. Local P Overview. In this section, we prove Conjecture 1 for the case n = 1. Recall the I-function for KP 1, 2d 1 k=0 2H kz 7 I 1 q = 1 d i=0 k=1 H λ i + kz qd. d=0 The function I 1 satisfies following Picard-Fuchs equation 8 M λ 0 M λ 1 2qM2M + z I 1 = 0. Recall the notation used in above equation, D = q d dq, M = H + zd. The restriction I 1 H=λi admits following asymptotic form 9 I 1 H=λi = e µ i/z R 0,i + R 1,i z + R 2,i z with series µ i, R k,i Cλ 0, λ 1 [[q]]. The series µ i and R k,i are found by solving differential equations obtained from the coefficient of z k in 8. For example, we have for i = 0, 1, λ i + Dµ i = L i, λi j i R 0,i = λ i λ j 1 2, f 1 L i
6 HYENHO LHO λi j i R 1,i = λ i λ j 1 2 fl i 16s 2 1 s s s 3 1s 2 132s 1 s 2 2L i + 12s s 2 1s 2 L 2 i 24s 1 L i s 1 2s λ2 i 9λ i λ i+1 + λ 2 i+1 24λ 3 i λ iλ 2 i+1. Here s 1 = λ 0 + λ 1 and s 2 = λ 0 λ 1. In the above expression of R 1,i, we used the convention λ 2 = λ Proof of Conjecture 1. We introduce new differential operator D i defined by for i = 0, 1, D i = DL i 1 D. By definition, D i acts on rational functions in L i as the ordinary derivation with respect to L i. If we use following normalizations, R k,i = f 1 L i 1 2 Φk,i the Picard-Fuchs equation 13 yields the following differential equations, 10 with D i Φ p,i A 00,i Φ p 1,i A 01,i D i Φ p 1,i A 02,i D 2 i Φ p 1,i = 0, A 00,i = s2 1s s 3 1s 2 + 8s 1 s 2 2L i + 2s 4 1 9s 2 1s 2 L 2 i 4L i s 1 2s 2 4, A 01,i = 2s 1s s 2 1s 2 8s 2 2L i + s s 1 s 2 L 2 i s 2 1L 3 i 2L i s 1 2s 2 3, A 02,i = s2 2 2s 1 s 2 L i + s s 2 L 2 i s 1 L 3 i L i s 1 2s 2 2. Here s k is the k-th elementary symmetric functions in λ 0, λ 1. Since the differential equations 10 satisfy the condition 6, we conclude the differential equations 10 is admissible Gomov-Witten series. By the result of previous subsection, we obtain the following result which verifies the prediction A in Section 0.1. Theorem 6. For the Gromov-Witten series of KP 1, we have F GW,1 g Qq G 1,
NOTE ON EQUIVARIANT I-FUNCTION OF LOCAL P n 7 where Qq is the mirror map of KP 1 defined by Qq := q exp 2 d=1 2d 1! d! 2 q d. Theorem 6 follows from the argument in [5]. The prediction B in Section 0.1 is trivial statement for KP Local P Overview. In this section, we prove Conjecture 1 for the case n = 2 with following specializations, 11 λ 0 λ 1 + λ 1 λ 2 + λ 2 λ 0 2 3λ 0 λ 1 λ 2 λ 0 + λ 1 + λ 2 = 0. The predictions A and B in Section 0.1 are studied in [4] based on the result of this section. For the rest of the section, the specialization 11 will be imposed. Recall the I-function for KP I 2 q = k=0 3H kz 2 d i=0 k=1 H λ i + kz qd. d=0 3d 1 The function I 2 satisfies following Picard-Fuchs equation 13 M λ 0 M λ 1 M λ 2 + 3qM3M + z3m + 2z I 2 = 0 Recall the notation used in above equation, D = q d dq, M = H + zd. The restriction I 2 H=λi admits following asymptotic form 14 I 2 H=λi = e µ i/z R 0,i + R 1,i z + R 2,i z with series µ i, R k,i Cλ 0, λ 1, λ 2 [[q]]. The series µ i and R k,i are found by solving differential equations obtained from the coefficient of z k in 13. For example, λ i + Dµ i = L i, λi j i R 0,i = λ i λ j 1 2. f 2 L i
8 HYENHO LHO 3.2. Proof of Conjecture 1. We introduce new differential operator D i defined by D i = DL i 1 D. If we use following normalizations, R k,i = f 2 L i 1 2 Φk,i the Picard-Fuchs equation 13 yields the following differential equations, 15 D i Φ p,i A 00,i Φ p 1,i A 01,i D i Φ p 1,i A 02,i D 2 i Φ p 1,i A 10,i Φ p 2,i A 11,i D i Φ p 2,i A 12,i D 2 i Φ p 2,i A 13,i D 3 i Φ p 2,i = 0, with A jl,i Cλ 0, λ 1, λ 2 [L i, f 2 L i 1 ].
