1 Journal of Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Informatics (JAMSI), 8 (), No. FRACTIONAL INTEGRAL INEQUALITIES FOR DIFFERENTIABLE CONVEX MAPPINGS AND APPLICATIONS TO SPECIAL MEANS AND A MIDPOINT FORMULA CHUN ZHU, MICHAL FE CKAN AND JINRONG WANG Abstract In this paper, Riemann-Liouville type fractional integral identity and inequality for differentiable convex mappings are studied. Some applications to special means of real numbers are given. Finally, error estimates for a midpoint formula are also obtained. Mathematics Subject Classification : 6A33, 6A5, 6D5 Additional Key Words and Phrases: Fractional integral inequalities, Differentiable convex mappings, Special means, Midpoint formula.. INTRODUCTION For f L[a, b, the Riemann-Liouville integrals Jaf α and Jb α f of order α > with a are defined by and J α af(x) = Γ(α) J α b f(x) = Γ(α) x a b x (x t) α f(t)dt, x > a, (t x) α f(t)dt, x < b, respectively, where Γ( ) is the Gamma function and Jaf(x) = Jb f(x) = f(x). Fractional calculus and its widely application have recently been paid more and more attentions. For more recent development on fractional calculus, one can see the monographs of Baleanu et al. [, Diethelm [, Kilbas et al. [3, Lakshmikantham et al. [4, Miller and Ross [5, Michalski [6, Podlubny [7 and Tarasov [8. It is remarkable that Sarikaya et al. [9 initial give the following interesting integral inequalities of Hermite-Hadamard type involving Riemann-Liouville fractional integrals. Theorem.. If f is a convex function on [a, b, then the following inequality for fractional integrals hold a b f Γ(α ) () α [J a α f(b) J b α f(a) f(b) f(a). () Clearly, if we put α = in Theorem., then inequality () becomes to the following known Hermite-Hadamard s inequality: a b f b a f(x)dx f(a) f(b). () For more recent results which generalize, improve, and extend the inequalities presented above, one can see Abramovich et al. [, Cal et al. [, Avci et al. [, Ödemir et al. [3; 4, Dragomir [5; 6, Sarikaya et al. [7, Xiao et al. [8, Xi et al. [9, Bessenyei [, Tseng et al. [, Niculescu [ and references therein. Unfortunately, Sarikaya et al. [9 only give some results connected with the right part of the equality (). Some pioneer works connected with the left part of the equality () have been reported by Kirmaci and Ödemir [3; 4. However, some related results connected with the left part of the equality () have not been studied extensively. In the present paper, we will investigate some inequalities connected with the left part of the equality (). In order to achieve our goals, we have to establish a important fractional integral identity (see Lemma.) for differentiable convex mappings via Riemann-Liouville fractional integrals, which will be widely used to derive a inequality for connected with the left part of the equality () for differentiable convex mappings (see Theorem.3). We also give some applications to special means of real numbers and obtain error estimates for a midpoint formula.. FRACTIONAL INTEGRAL IDENTITY AND INEQUALITY FOR DIFFERENTIABLE CONVEX MAPPINGS We establish a important fractional integral identity for differentiable convex mappings. Lemma.. Let f : [a, b R be a differentiable mapping on (a, b) with a < b. If f L[a, b, then the following equality for fractional integrals holds: Γ(α ) a b () α [J af(b) α Jb f(a) α f = [ kf (ta ( t)b)dt [( t) α t α f (ta ( t)b)dt (3) where {, t < k =,, t <. 3 FRACTIONAL INTEGRAL INEQUALITIES Proof. It suffices to note that I = f (ta ( t)b)dt f (ta ( t)b)dt [( t) α t α f (ta ( t)b)dt [ [ = f (ta ( t)b)dt f (ta ( t)b)dt [ [ ( t) α f (ta ( t)b)dt t α f (ta ( t)b)dt := I I I 3 I 4. (4) Integrating by parts, we have I = f (ta ( t)b)dt = f(ta ( t)b) a b = [ a b f f(b), (5) I = = Put x = ta ( t)b, we have and I 3 = = f (ta ( t)b)dt = f(ta ( t)b) a b [ a b f(a) f. (6) ( t) α f (ta ( t)b)dt ( t)α a b = f(b) α f(ta ( t)b) a ( x a b α a b ) α f(x) a b dx ( t) α f(ta ( t)b)dt = f(b) Γ(α ) () α J b f(a), α (7) I 4 = = tα a b t α f (ta ( t)b)dt f(ta ( t)b) = f(a) α a b α a b ( b x ) α f(x) a b dx t α f(ta ( t)b)dt = f(a) Γ(α ) () α J af(b). α (8) 3 Download Date /8/8 7:9 PM
4 CHUN ZHU, MICHAL FE CKAN AND JINRONG WANG Submitting (5), (6), (7), (8) to (4), it follows that I = a b f Γ(α ) () α [J af(b) α Jb f(a). α Thus, by multiplying both sides by b a, we have conclusion (3). Remark.. In Lemma., if we put α = then the equality (3) becomes b a b f(x)dx f a = [ f (ta ( t)b)dt f (ta ( t)b)dt ( t)f (ta ( t)b)dt. (9) Using the above fractional integral identity, we can obtain the following result. Theorem.3. Let f : [a, b R be a differentiable mapping on (a, b) with a < b. If f is convex on [a, b, then the following inequality for fractional integrals holds: Γ(α ) a b () α [J af(b) α Jb f(a) α f ( α 3 ) 4(α ) α [ f (a) f (b). () Proof. Using Lemma. and the convexity of f, we have Γ(α ) a b () α [J af(b) α Jb f(a) α f [ f (ta ( t)b) dt f (ta ( t)b) dt ( t) α t α f (ta ( t)b) dt [ [t f (a) ( t) f (b) dt ( t) α t α f (ta ( t)b) dt [ [t f (a) ( t) f (b) dt [( t) α t α [t f (a) ( t) f (b) dt [t α ( t) α [t f (a) ( t) f (b) dt [t f (a) ( t) f (b) dt [t f (a) ( t) f (b) dt := (K K K 3 K 4 ). 5 FRACTIONAL INTEGRAL INEQUALITIES After some calculation, we obtain K = K = [t f (a) ( t) f (b) dt = f (a) t f (b) t t = 8 f (a) 3 8 f (b), () [t f (a) ( t) f (b) dt = f (a) t f (b) t t = 3 8 f (a) 8 f (b), (3) and K 3 = [( t) α t α [t f (a) ( t) f (b) dt [ = f (a) t( t) α dt t α dt [ f (b) ( t) α dt ( t)t α dt K 4 = [ = f (a) (α )(α ) ( )α α [ f (b) [t α ( t) α [t f (a) ( t) f (b) dt [ = f (a) t α dt f (b) [ = f (a) [ ( t)t α dt (α ) ( )α α t( t) α dt ( t) α dt f (b) [ (α ) ( )α α, (4) (α )(α ) ( )α. (5) α Submitting (), (3), (4), (5) to (), we obtain the inequality (). completes the proof. This Remark.4. If we take α = in Theorem.3, then the equality () becomes to the following inequality: b a b 3() f(x)dx f ( f (a) f (b) ). (6) 8 a 3. Now, using the obtained results in Section, we give some applications to special means of real numbers. Proposition 3.. Let a, b R, a < b, does not belong to [a, b and n Z, n. Then L n n(a, b) A n (a, b) 3 4 n ()A( a n, b n ). (7) Proof. Applying Remark.4 for f(x) = x n, one can obtain the result immediately. Proposition 3.. Let a, b R, a < b, does not belong to [a, b. Then L (a, b) A (a, b) 3 4 ()A( a, b ). (8) Proof. The assertion follows from Remark.4 applied for f(x) = x. Proposition 3.3. Let a, b R \ {}, a < b, a > b, does not belong to [a, b and n Z, n. Then we have and L n n(b, a ) H n (b, a) 3 4 n (a b )H ( a n, b n ), (9) L (b, a ) H(b, a) 3 4 (a b )H ( a, b ). () Proof. Making the substitutions a b, b a in the inequalities (7) and (8), one can obtain desired inequalities (9) and () respectively, where A (a, b ) = H(a, b) =, b < a. a b To end this paper, we give an application to a midpoint formula. 7 FRACTIONAL INTEGRAL INEQUALITIES Theorem 3.4. Let f : [a, b R be a differentiable mapping on (a, b) with a < b. If f is convex on [a, b, then in (), for every division d of [a, b, we have E(f, d) 3 n (x i x i ) ( f (x i ) f (x i ) ). 8 i= Proof. Applying Remark.4 on the subinterval [x i, x i (i =,,, n ) of the division d, we get xi xi x i f(x)dx f (x i x i ) 3 8 (x i x i ) ( f (x i ) f (x i ) ). x i Summing over i from to n and taking into account that f is convex, we obtain, by the triangle inequality, that b n f(x)dx T (f, d) a = [ xi xi x i f(x)dx f (x i x i ) i= x i n xi xi x i f(x)dx f (x i x i ) The proof is completed.
