4 Section A Mechanics You should spend approximately one hour on this section. Take g = 10 m/s 2 1 (Throughout this question i and j denote unit vectors parallel to a set of standard x-y axes.) 10 4 A solid ball of mass M kg hangs from a light inextensible string attached to a ceiling. The ball is pulled by a horizontal force F so that the ball is held in equilibrium, with the string at an angle of 35 to the vertical, as shown in the diagram below.
