1 Westside High School Backwards-Design Lesson Plan Template Algebra 2 PAP Transformations Unit 9/10-9/26 Understanding (s)/goals: EU1: Students apply the properties of functions to their graphs and transformations. Essential Question(s): EQ1: A family of functions is the foundation for transformations of graphs. 1. How are the families of functions the same or different? 2. Why do functions shift vertically or horizontally? 3. How do the changes in the leading coefficient affect the function s graph? 4. How do parameter changes affect the domain and range? 5. How are the attributes of a transformation of an absolute value function s transformation demonstrated algebraically? In the transformations of the polynomial function, the effects are demonstrated in the equation, the graph, and the table. 1. How are characteristics of the equation, graph, and table related? 2. How are the transformations of polynomial functions similar to or different from transformations of other functions that have been studied?
