Commun. Theor. We make a detailed discussion on f B from two sum rules up to next-toleading order, i.e. sum rules I and II, which are derived from the conventional correlator and the correlator with chiral currents respectively. It is found that these two sum rules are consistent with each other. The sum rules II involves less non-perturative condensates as that of sum rules I, and in principle, it can e more accurate if we know the dimensionfour gluon condensate well. It is found that f B decreases with the increment of m, and to compare with the Belle experimental data on f B, oth sum rules I and II prefer smaller pole -quark mass, m = 4.68 ± 0.07 GeV. By varying all the input parameters within their reasonale regions and y adding all the uncertainties in quadrature, we otain f B = MeV for sum rules I and fb = MeV for sum rules II. PACS numers: Hx, t, He, Lg Key words: QCD sum rules, decay constant, correlator The study of B physics plays a fundamental role oth in accurately testing the Standard Model and in search of new physics. For such purpose, it is very important to determine the B-meson transition matrix elements with high accuracy. Especially, as has already een emphasized in many works in the literature, the simplest matrix element f B, which is defined as 0 qγ µ γ 5 B(p) = if B p µ or (m + m q ) 0 qiγ 5 B(p) = m 2 B f B is fundamental for the physics of the heavy-light quark systems, where q denotes the light u or d quark under the isospin symmetry. The decay constants usually are studied through their leptonic decays, earlier discussions of which can e found in Ref. [1]. As for f B, its first direct measurement is done y Belle experiment, which shows that f B = (stat) (syst) MeV from the measurement of the decay B τ ν τ. [2] At the present, the lattice QCD calculation and the QCD sum rules are two suitale approaches for theoretically extracting these elements and their results are usually complementary to each other. Some typical extractions of f B were investigated in Refs. [3 8] from QCD sum rules and in Refs. [9-17] from lattice calculation. The QCD sum rules approach was developed y Shifman, Vainshtein, and Zakharov (SVZ) in the seventies of last century, [18] and now, it ecomes a widely adopted tool for studying hadron phenomenology. It was designed to determine the properties of the ground-state hadrons at low momentum transfer to the region of large momentum transfer. More explicitly, hadrons are represented y certain interpolating quark currents taken at large virtuality, and then the correlation function (correlator) of these currents is introduced and treated in the framework of operator product expansion (OPE) such that the short- and the long-distance quark-gluon interactions are separated. The short-distance interaction is calculated using perturative QCD, while the long-distance one can e parameterized in terms of the universal non-perturative vacuum condensates. Next, the result of QCD calculation is matched, via dispersion relation, to a sum over hadronic states. Finally, the Borel transformation is introduced to suppress or even cut off the irrelevant or unknown excited and continuum states so as to improve the accuracy of the otained sum rules, since little is known aout the spectral function of the excited and continuum states. In such a way, the so called SVZ sum rules comines the concepts of OPE, the dispersive representation of correlator and the quark-hadron duality consistently that allows the derived non-excited hadron states properties to e within their reasonale theoretical uncertainties. It is noted that one of the asic quantity for the QCD sum rules is the correlator. How to design a proper correlator for a particular case is a tricky prolem. By a suitale choice of the correlator, one can not only otain the right properties of the hadrons ut also simplify the theoretical uncertainties effectively. Usually the currents adopted in the correlators are taken to e those with definite quantum numers, such as those with definite J P, where J is the total angular momentum and P is the parity. However such kind of correlator is not the only choice Supported y Natural Science Foundation Project of CQ CSTC under Grant No. 2008BB0298, y Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant Nos and , and y the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities under Grant No. CDJZR Corresponding author, wuxg@cqu.edu.cn c 2011 Chinese Physical Society and IOP Pulishing Ltd
636 Communications in Theoretical Physics Vol. 55 adopted in the literature, e.g. the correlator constructed with chiral current is also adopted, which is firstly proposed y Ref. [19] to study the process B K γ and then developed in dealing with various processes. [20 26] For different correlators, we need to check whether the theoretical estimations are consistent with each other or not, or to determine, which correlator can lead to more accurate or more appropriate estimation for a particular physical process. And it is one of the purpose of the present paper, to make a comparative study of f B under two typical choices for the two-point correlator. The first correlator is the conventional one and is defined as Π(q 2 ) = i d 4 xe iqx 0 T { q(x)γ 5 (x), (0)γ 5 q(0) } 0, (1) and the second one is the correlator with chiral current, Π(q 2 ) =i d 4 xe iqx 0 T { q(x)(1 + γ 5 )(x), (0)(1 γ5 )q(0) } 0. (2) Following the standard procedure of SVZ sum rules, we can otain two sum rules for f B from the aove defined correlators. The sum rules up to next-to-leading order (NLO) for the first correlator can e written as (sum rules I) fb 2 m 4 B e m2 B /M2 = 3 8π 2 s0 dss e s/m2 (1 x) 2[ 1 + α s(µ IR )C F m 2 π + e m2/m2[ m qq + 1 αs 12 π GG 1 ( ) 2M 2 1 m2 2M 2 m qgσ Gq 16π α s (µ IR ) qq 2 ( 27 M 2 1 m2 4M 2 )] m4 12M 4 ] ρ(x), (3) where m stands for the pole quark mass, µ IR is the renormalization scale, x = /s and C F = 4/3. M and s 0 stand for the Borel parameter and the effective continuum threshold respectively, as seen in Tale 1. Since m q is quite small in comparison to m or µ IR, so terms proportional to m q have implicitly neglected. The function ρ(x) determines the spectral density of the NLO correction to the perturative part and it takes the following form ρ(x) = Li 2(x) + lnxln(1 x) ln(1 x) ( + x 3 ) ln 1 x x lnx, (4) 2 x 1 x where the dilogarithm function Li 2 (x) = x 0 (dt/t)ln(1 t). Practically, ρ(x) is firstly derived under the MS scheme, and then it is transformed to e the present form with the help of the well-known one loop formula for the relation etween the MS -quark mass and the pole quark mass, i.e. m (µ IR ) = m [ 1 + α s(µ IR )C F 4π ( )] ln m2 µ 2. IR In some Refs. [8, 27], it is argued that one should use -quark running mass other than its pole quark mass to do the numerical analysis. However, we think these two choices are equivalent to each other in principle, since we need to use their relation either to change the ound state part (to e determined y the pole quark mass) with the running mass or to change the hard scattering part (to e calculated y the running mass) with the pole quark mass. Moreover, as a cross check of the present otained formulae, it is found that the sum rules I agrees with those of Refs. [3, 4, 8-10] when taking the same approximation and the same type of -quark mass. The sum rules up to NLO for the second correlator can e written as (sum rules II): f 2 B m 4 B = 3 4π 2 s 0 e m2 B /M2 ] ρ(x) dss e s/m2 (1 x) 2[ 1 + α s(µ IR )C F m 2 π + e m2/m2[ 1 αs 6 π GG 32π α s (µ IR ) qq 2 27 M 2 ( )] 1 m2 4M 2 m4 12M 4, (5) where s 0 also is the effective threshold as seen in Tale 2. Again, the terms proportional to m q are neglected due to their smallness. It can e found that the sum rules II is simpler in form than that of sum rules I. Tale 1 Sum rules I for f B, where the values of s 0 and M 2 are those that lead to the maximum value of f B for a particular m. The errors are caused y varying (M 2, s 0) within the region that is determined y setting the nonperturative condensates to e their center values. s 0 /GeV 2 M 2 /GeV 2 f B /MeV m = ± 6 m = ± 8 m = ± 10 m = ± 15 Tale 2 Sum rules II for f B, where the values of s 0 and M 2 are those that lead to the maximum value of f B for a particular m. The errors are caused y varying (M 2, s 0) within the region that is determined y setting the nonperturative condensates to e their center values. s 0 /GeV 2 M 2 /GeV 2 f B /MeV m = ± 12 m = ± 14 m = ± 10 m = ± 17 As a comparison of sum rules I and II, it can e found that y taking proper chiral current in the correlator, one can reduce the theoretical uncertainties to a certain degree. Especially, in sum rules I, the first nonperturative term and hence the dominant contriution of
No. 4 Communications in Theoretical Physics 637 the non-perturative condensates is the dimension-three quark condensate qq. And, in sum rules II, the first non-perturative term is the dimension-four gluon condensate (α s /π)gg. Therefore, with proper chiral currents in the correlator, one can naturally suppress the nonperturative sources and hence improve the accuracy of the otained sum rules. This oservation is similar to the case of light-cone sum rules for B pseudo-scalar transition form factors where with chiral current in the correlator, one can eliminate the most uncertain twist-3 contriutions [24 26] in comparison to the sum rules derived y using the conventional correlator (see Ref. [28] for an explicit example). Schematically, the two sum rules I and II can e rewritten in the following simpler form s0 fb 2 m 4 B m 2 e m2 B /M2 = ρ tot (s)e s/m2 ds, (6) where the spectral density ρ tot (s) can e read from Eqs. (3) and (5). It is noted that the continuum threshold s 0 should e varied with the different choice of correlators. While more practically, the Borel parameter M 2 and the continuum threshold s 0 are determined in such a comined way that the resulting B-meson decay constant f B does not depend too much on the precise values of these parameters. In addition, the following three criteria are adopted for numerically determining the range of of (M 2, s 0 ): Criterion (A): The continuum contriution, that is the part of the dispersive integral from s 0 to, should not e too large, e.g. less than 30% of the total dispersive integral. As will e found later that this condition is well satisfied, since the resultant ranges for (M 2, s 0 ) shall led this ratio e less than 20% for sum rules I and e less than 15% for sum rules II. Criterion (B): The contriutions from the dimension-six condensate terms shall not exceed 15% for f B. Criterion (C): The derivative of the logarithm of Eq. (6) with respect to ( 1/M 2 ) gives the B-meson mass m B, i.e. s0 / m 2 B = ρ tot s 0 (s)e s/m2 sds ρ tot (s)e s/m2 ds, and we require its value to e full-filled with high accuracy, i.e. 0.1%. Here, we shall not give any further constraints on s 0, and we only treat it as an effective scale, which is roughly around the squared mass of B-meson first excited state. In numerical evaluation of the sum rules I and II, we take m B = GeV and use the following values for the condensates: [29 30] qq(1 GeV) = ( GeV)3, αs π GG = GeV4, qgσ Gq(1 GeV) = (0.8 ± 0.2) GeV 2 qq(1 GeV). (7) It is found that the relative error for (α s /π)gg is quite large. Further more, we shall use LO anomalous dimensions of the condensates to evaluate them up to the renormalization scale, µ IR = m 2 B m2.[28] The -quark pole mass is taken as: m GeV, which is the recent world average suggested y Particle Data Group. [31] As for the running coupling constant, we approximate it y a one-loop form, α s (µ IR ) = 4π/(9 ln(µ 2 IR /Λ2 QCD )), where Λ QCD = GeV that is determined y reproducing α s (M z ) = [31] Criteria (A, B, C) determine a set of parameters for each value of m. In the following, we shall firstly take m = 4.68 GeV as an explicit example to show how to determine the allowale ranges for M 2 and s 0 and to derive f B within these ranges. And then we shall present the results for several typical m. Firstly, the three-dimensional Figs.1 and 2 present the allowale range of M 2 and s 0 for sum rules I and II. Figures 1(a) and 2(a) is for criteria (A) and (B), whose first and second axes are for M 2 and s 0, and third axis is for the ratio of the continuum contriution over the total contriution for criteria (A) and the ratio of the dimension-six contriution over the total contriution for criteria (B) respectively. By setting a fixed value for s 0, it is found that the continue contriution increases with the increment of M 2 and the contriution from the dimension-six condensate term increases with the decrement of M 2, so criterion (A) determines the upper limit of M 2 and criterion (B) determines the lower limit of M 2. Then, a possile Borel window can e otained from criteria (A) and (B), which shall e further constrained y criterion (C). Practically, the range of (M 2, s 0 ) can e determined numerically. Figure 3(a) shows the allowale range of (M 2, s 0 ) for sum rules I, which is otained y sampling points within M 2 [2, 7] GeV 2 and s 0 [32, 36] GeV 2. And Fig. 4(a) shows the allowale range of (M 2, s 0 ) for sum rules II, which is otained y sampling points within M 2 [2, 6] GeV 2 and s 0 [32, 37] GeV 2. Figures 3() and 4() present the corresponding values of f B within its allowale region of M 2 and s 0. For fixed M 2, it can e found that f B increases with the increment of s 0. And for fixed s 0, f B shall e steady under the reasonale region of the Borel parameter M 2, i.e. the uncertainty is less than 3%. By varying (M 2, s 0 ) within their allowale region, the uncertainties of f B is less than 6% for sum rules I and less than 5% for sum rules II. Such small uncertainty for a fixed m agrees with the requirement of the reliaility of sum rules.

Fig. 2 Allowale range of (M 2, s0 ) for sum rules II, where m = 4.68 GeV and the non-perturative condensates are set to e their center values. Fig. 3 The allowale range of (M 2, s0 ) for sum rules I (a) and the value of fb within this range (), where m = 4.68 GeV and the non-perturative condensates are set to e their center values. Secondly, we present fb for several typical m, i.e. m = 4.61 GeV, 4.68 GeV, 4.75 GeV, and 4.85 GeV, respectively. The allowale region of (M 2, s0 ) for each m can e determined through the same procedure descried aove. The results are put in Tales 1, 2, where the listed values of s0 and M 2 are those that lead to the maximum value of fb for a particular m. And the listed errors for fb are determined y setting the non-perturative condensates to e their center values. By further varying the non-perturative condensates within the region of Eq. (7), an extra ±1 MeV up to ±4 MeV error should e taken into consideration. For examples, y setting m = 4.68 GeV, an extra ±2 MeV error shall e caused y those non-perturative condensates for oth sum rules I and II; while y setting m = 4.61 GeV, it changes to e ±1 MeV. Furthermore, it can e found that the value of fb decreases with the increment of m, and to compare with the experimental data on fb, oth sum rules I and II prefer small -quark pole mass, i.e. m = 4.68 ± 0.07 GeV. It is found that the main uncertainty comes from m, so a etter understanding of m shall further improve the present sum rules. For example, in Ref. [29], a smaller region of m [4.55, 4.60] GeV is adopted, which can e otained y translating the running -quark mass used there to the present pole mass, and then their result for fb is MeV. It should e noted that such a small error is also due to a smaller Borel window
No. 4 Communications in Theoretical Physics 639 and a smaller region of s 0 derived there. [29] However if we treat (M 2, s 0 ) as correlated parameters then their separate region shall e roadened as shown y Figs. 3(a) and 4(a). Fig. 4 The allowale range of (M 2, s 0) for sum rules II (a) and the value of f B within this range (), where m = 4.68 GeV and the non-perturative condensates are set to e their center values. As a summary, we have presented a detailed discussion on f B from two sum rules, i.e. sum rules I and II, which are derived from the conventional correlator and the correlator with chiral currents respectively. Under proper parameter values, oth sum rules I and II can lead to reasonale f B that is consistent with the Belle experiment. At a fixed m, the estimated uncertainties of f B from oth sum rules I and II are less than 10%. If further fixing s 0, f B shall e quite steady versus the Borel parameter M 2. Hence the contriutions from the uncertainty sources, e.g. the continuum states and higher dimensional condensates, are well under control. With the help of Tales 1, 2, y varying m within a small region m = 4.68 ±0.07 GeV, we otain f B = MeV for sum rules I and f B = MeV for sum rules II, where the errors from all the mentioned parameters such as m, (M 2, s 0 ) and the non-perturative condensates are added together in quadrature. Furthermore, the comparison of the sum rules I and II shows that we can improve the QCD sum rules in principle y using chiral current in the correlator. At the present, due to the large uncertainty of the dimension-four gluon condensates, such improvement on the sum rules with chiral current is not so clear as that of QCD light-cone sum rules for B P transition form factors. [24 26] However with a more accurate values for these condensates, sum rules II shall ecome more accurate. References [1] S.S. Gershtein and M.Y. Khlopov, JETP Lett. 23 (1976) 338; M.Y. Khlopov, Sov.
