We are aware of several other couples who have also become full time residents of the Airpark as our community continues to grow. Perhaps it is a good time for a reminder to all of us regarding certain Airpark rules. In addition to automobile traffic, we have airplanes and pedestrians on our streets. Several vehicles have repeatedly been observed going noticeably more than 25 MPH, so PLEASE, slow down. Trying to save an extra 5 or 10 seconds to get to your home or the gate is not worth the risk. Dogs running loose As a reminder, dogs should be within the fenced or walled areas of your property, or on a lead. Large Items in the Dumpster - No furniture, appliances, or large pieces of landscaping or construction debris should be put in the dumpsters. They should be taken to the landfill. You have probably driven by Cal-Nev-Ari many time as you go to and from Las Vegas, and maybe not been aware there is a runway and airpark right behind the casino. Well, it s for sale for $8 million. In 1965, Slim and Nancy Kidwell touched down in the desert 70 miles south of Las Vegas to scratch out their dream: a town for pilots like them, complete with backyard hangars, a central airstrip and a fly-in casino. Now Nancy Kidwell is looking for a way out of what she lovingly describes as the trap they built. It s time for someone else to do something with it, the 78-year-old said. Fifty-one years is long enough. Kidwell is selling the town she helped build from nothing. She ll go on living there, just not as caretaker. Asking price: $8 million. The sale includes just about everything: the dirt airstrip, restaurant, bar, convenience store, post office with ZIP Code, mobile home park, 10-room motel, RV park, and the casino, which has been open since 1968 with a non-restricted gaming license.

I N T E R E S T I N G A I R P A R K V I S I T O R S Despite what we may hear or observe about the decline in general aviation, we continue to see activity picking up at the airport. Occasionally we even see an airplane less than 5 years old, but many of the older ones are kept in great shape by their owners. Here are just a few examples of some of the older types that have stopped in the airport recently Cessna 310 from Las Vegas Piper Apache from Chino, CA Anyone remember Sky King from the Lower priced alternative to the s TV show? 1958 Mooney from Kansas, this one has 1946 Ercoupe from New Mexico. Pretty classy wooden wings. Mooneys are still built today, and modern for 1946 but all metal.

4 T H E A I R P A R K V I E W Page 4 E A A C H A P T E R F T M O H A V E F L Y E R S Fly In BBQ was a success! The weather was perfect, there was very little wind and temperature maybe low 90s. We had 23 airplanes fly-in (well OK one of them only taxied over). I have photos of about every one if anyone wants to see anything in particular, but I've just attached the ones that show a good overview. We just about filled up every available parking space. We had 4 Cessna 172s, 3 Cessna 182s, 2 Comanches, 2 Bonanzas, and one each: Evektor, Cessna 140, Ercoupe, Cessna 180, Meyers (or Aero Commander 200), RV6, Remos, Piper Arrow, Tecna P2008, Long EZ, J3 Cub, and Cherokee 235. Where did all these planes come from? 13 came from Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City area: 2 from CA: 2 from Kingman: 1 from Havasu: 1 from Deer Valley: 2 from Sun Valley: and 2 from "not sure". The Piper Arrow came from Santa Monica, which I believe was probably the furthest away. We served somewhere between 60 and 90 hamburgers (I had 2). It was a fun, busy day. Thanks to everyone who helped out. Stan Fort Mohave Flyers is the local EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Chapter here at the Airport. Come and join in the fun and camaraderie. It is always a good time and an opportunity to socialize with neighbors and network. There are tables and chairs available from the MSVPOA and there are always people who are willing to help set-up and clean up. There is really not much work involved, just a space for people to gather, eat, and talk. Please let the office know if any of you, as a property owner, want to use a cell phone number for access at the gate keypad. Also, if anyone is in need of a transmitter/s for the gate entry, they cost of $25 each and are available from the MSVPOA office.
