16 16 Solving by Substitution: Solve for one variable in one of the equations (choose the one that is easiest to solve for). Substitute this expression into the other equation. Solve the single variable equation now created (solve for the 1 st variable). Solve for the second variable by substituting the value already solved for into one of the equations. 38 38 Solving Systems with 3 Variables: As we have seen, systems with 2 variables require 2 equations to solve. Systems with 3 variables require 3 equations to solve. Complete the process of elimination with 2 of the equations to eliminate one of the variables. Complete the process of elimination using 2 different equations and eliminate the same variable as before. Using the 2 new equations, complete the process of elimination (could also use the method of substitution) and solve for two of the variables Solve for the third variable by substituting the values already solved for into one of the original equations.
