171 Halloween Dialogue: Happy Mary and Grouchy George
172 HAPPY MARY AND GROUCHY GEORGE MARY GEORGE MARY GEORGE MARY Don t you just love autumn, George? It s my favorite season. No. I hate autumn. The leaves fall from the trees, and I have to rake them. But don t you just love the smell of the leaves burning in a big bonfire, toasting marshmallows and eating them while they are hot? No. You can t burn leaves in the city anymore. It fills the air with smoke. Think about it, George, those big trees that started as little acorns. Isn t that just wonderful? GEORGE MARY No. I d like to crush those acorns before they begin to grow. I kick them when I see them. What about Halloween, George? You have to love Halloween, don t you?
173 GEORGE MARY GEORGE MARY GEORGE No. I hate Halloween and all those kids yelling Trick or Treat. Witches and goblins and ghosts and mummies and princesses, they just want candy. But Jack O Lanterns, George. Don t you just love the way you make scary faces out of pumpkins? No. I hate pumpkins. The vampires and witches and werewolves can keep them. I am not scared. What DO you like, George? Well, I guess I like you.
