Q.No. 1 is compulsory 2. Attempt any two more questions from the remaining three questions. Q1. (a) How will you distinguish between static and kinetic friction? (2) (b) From a circular plate of diameter 6 cm is cut out a circle whose diameter is a radius of the plate. Find the centroid of the remainder from the centre of circular plate. (2) (c) State the basic assumptions made while making an analysis of a perfect truss. (2) (d) State parallel axis theorem as applied to Area Moment of Inertia. (2) (e) Define the terms Mechanical advantage and Velocity ratio of Screw jack. (2) Q2. (a) In a jib crane, the jib and the tie rod are 5 m and 4 m respectively. The height of the crane post is 3 m and the rod remains horizontal. Determine the forces produced in the jib and tie rod when a load of 2 KN is suspended at the crane head.
