1 24 P a g e UNIVERSITY TRANSFER - ASSOCIATE IN ARTS RCC UNCP Elementary Education-Sociology Concentration (A10100) A partnership agreement between the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP) and Richmond Community College has established a degree completion program serving students enrolled in the Associate in Arts degree program with interests in Elementary Education careers. Upon completion of the Associate in Arts degree, students may pursue the Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Elementary Education at UNCP on RCC s main campus, through Distance Education, or UNCP s main campus. Students enrolled at RichmondCC receive: Upon completion of all requirements, an Associate Degree from RCC. Early identification to UNCP that the student is interested in the BS in Elementary Education degree. Access to specialized advising by designated advisors at RCC and UNCP to ensure students select courses to minimize their time to degree completion and optimize academic achievement. UNCP Elementary Education Admission Requirements: Student apply to UNCP by submitting the UNCP undergraduate transfer application and official transcripts from high school, RCC, and any other colleges or universities attended. Students must complete the Associate in Arts degree program with a minimum grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale on all prior college/university course work. Meet the state established scores on Praxis Core, SAT, or ACT. PRAXIS Core Academic Skills for Educators passing test scores: reading 156, writing 162, math 150; or a combined score of 468. OR SAT score of 1100 or ACT combined score of 24 you do NOT have to take any of the PRAXIS Core tests. SAT math score of 550 or ACT math score of 24 you do NOT have to take the PRAXIS math test. SAT verbal score of 500 or ACT English test score of 24 you do NOT have to take the PRAXIS reading or writing tests. Students will be eligible for Teacher Education Admission after satisfactorily completing all requirements and a Teacher Education admission interview. A. UNIVERSAL GENERAL EDUCATION TRANSFER COMPONENT (45 SHC) (All courses in this component are required and will transfer for equivalency credit.) Work/ Class Lab Clinical Credit 1.
