3 Name skill: comprehension Park Every community usually has a park for people to use. A park is an area set aside for recreation, or fun activities. There is a playground for children. It has swings, slides, or monkey bars to play on. Many parks have football fields, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, and a track for running. You can find picnic tables to sit on while you eat your lunch or dinner. Many parks have trees and a pond or lake to enjoy. 9 Name. skill: comprehension Clothing One way to help keep your body healthy is to wear the right clothes. You do not wear a heavy coat in the summer. You do not wear shorts in the winter. Your body needs to stay at the right temperature, or amount of heat. Wearing the right clothes helps keep you just the right temperature. During the summer when it is hot, we wear light clothes that let the heat escape, or get away from our body. During cold weather we wear hats, coats, and long pants that keep the heat in our bodies. Umbrellas and raincoats also help us. They keep our bodies dry. Getting wet cools our bodies. We wear rain clothes to help keep us warm and dry in wet weather. 19 Jefferson Elementary School 4895 Jefferson Avenue Shadyside, OH (740) Ms. Cynthia Caldwell, Principal Dear Parents, We are excited to announce that this year Shadyside Local District will participate in blizzard bags again. The purpose of this program is to allow the schools the ability to use time out of the classroom, due to snow/emergency days, as traditional class days. The district will be granted the hours necessary to fulfill a school year by providing students with at home learning opportunities that align with the district and state based standards. On snow day 6, the first blizzard bag will be completed, snow day 7 complete the second blizzard bag and on snow day 8 complete the third blizzard bag. The students will be expected to bring completed assignments within a week for each blizzard day that should occur. If the assignment is not turned in completed, the student will be marked absent for that day. The Shadyside website will have grade level copy of the blizzard plans for each blizzard day.
