There lived a fish called Sammy who liked adventures. He loved swimming around and seeing new things. He was a happy fish that enjoyed exploring the world around him.
There were many different kinds of creatures that lived under the water.
He made friends with another fish and they stayed together. It was more fun to be with a friend. They pointed to what they d found, Hey look! What a funny creature!
One day, Sammy said to his friend, Hey Johnny, we ve gone around this place many times. Shall we go to the places in the bigger water? Johnny agreed and they set off on their adventure.
Soon they realized that the life in the bigger water world was not only fun but also dangerous too.
But they liked every moment of it, because there were so many things to discover. There were more creatures than you can count.
Most of them were fine but there were some dangerous fish to watch out for. There were also some dangerous plant like animals to be careful of.
A few times they were almost eaten by those creatures. Phew! I might have grown a few white fins from that said Sammy, sweating water like crazy.
One time, Sammy got squirted by a cutlet fish, when he came too near to them. Oh yuk! I need a bath to wash off all this black ink! at this Johnny laughed and laughed until his tummy hurt.
They loved looking at the varieties of seaweed. They often found some food in and around the seaweed and it was also a good place to hide.
They had been away for a long time now and they started to miss their family. Johnny suggested going back home and Sammy agreed.
Let s take something special with us! At Sammy s suggestion, they started to look for a special gift to take home. Coral is beautiful, but rather too spiky to carry.
This is perfect! Johnny shouted as he was picking up a pretty little shell. Look, I can carry it in my mouth when I swim, and when I want to eat, I can take it out! Johnny was very happy with what he d found.
Wow, that s lovely! For sure, your mum will like it! Sammy was happy for Johnny and soon he d found something shining, something special which he d never seen before. It just fitted into his mouth.
With a gift in their mouth, they swam as fast as they could. They swam hard, taking little rest until they arrived at their home in the Sea of Galilee.
How nice it is to be back home! They recognized the playing areas where they always had so much fun.
Sammy was so excited that he didn t notice a fisherman s trap until it was too late.
What is he going to do? Is he going to kill me? Sammy was very afraid of the thought of what might happen to him, with no chance of seeing his family again,
Yes, it s true! It s as Jesus said I d find a coin in the first fish I catch! Fisherman peter was very happy with what he d found in Sammy's mouth and let him go. Phew! That was close!
As they swim away from a near death experience, Sammy started to wonder who that Jesus was. How did he know what he had in his mouth and know that he would be there?
Sammy wanted to find out why Jesus wanted that coin. So Sammy went to see the elders with his many questions. Jesus is the Lord of all creation and He paid the taxes with your coin! said the elders.
Sammy and Johnny lived the rest of their lives in the sea of Galilee, telling special stories of Jesus to the younger ones and The younger ones told theirs to their younger ones.
Now, when you go to the sea, especially the Sea of Galilee, you can hear fish telling stories of Jesus to one another who loved them enough to know what they had in their mouths.
This story is based on the Bible Matthew 17 verse 27
