3 Fall Festival The Fall Festival was held in front of Pemberton s Entrance on Sunday, October 23rd, The festival began at 1 o clock, and there were about 25 residents attended. There was a hot chocolate bar with a variety of toppings and popcorn. We also had tons of activities. There was coloring, DIY door decorations, painting, a zombie wrapping contest, and even a sack race. This event was the All Hallows Week kickoff. It was like a flashback into all of our childhoods. There was fun, laughter, and most importantly community. Spooktacular Haunted House Decorations The second day of All Hallows Week was decorating for the main event, Pemberton Hall s annual haunted house. All residents and friends of Pemberton were invited to decorate the basement. The theme was a haunted ship, so there was a lot of work to do. Each room s design was created by Pemberton s E-board, and it was up to all residents to execute as a team. It was great to see the residents who decorated be a part of the process. Everyone was able to showcase their leadership skills and reach goals as a team.
4 Murder Mystery On Tuesday night residents of Pemberton ate a spaghetti dinner together in the great hall. During dinner, the lights went out and when they turned back to an e-board member had been murdered. It was up to the residents to figure out who had committed this horrible crime. Other e-board members and even a couple of RA s were stationed in different areas of Pemberton with answers to questions residents might ask. The residents went around asking questions and checking of suspects. Once most of the residents figured out Who did it? With what object? and In what room? They all gathered back into the great hall to hear the murder be revealed. Everyone was shocked at who the murder was. Pemberton is now free of murders thanks to the resident s fine detective work. On Wednesday night, all the residents gathered into the great hall for pumpkin painting. There were a lot of pumpkins to choose from and they were all small enough to put outside of one s door. With a multitude of colors to choose from some residents went classic by putting a jack-olantern face on their pumpkin while other s wrote sayings or Greek letters. Some even got super creative and painted scenes from Halloween movies. It was a great event with laughter and music filling the air. Pumpkin Painting
5 The Spell Binding Movie Night Thursday had a fantastic movie and delicious snacks making this movie night truly spellbinding. The hall gathered into the basement lounge where Hocus Pocus was playing. Across the hall, in the kitchen area, there was a terrific snack table with candy, popcorn, and ice cream with loads of different toppings. It was a relaxing and enjoyable night before the spooky haunted house. Haunted House Friday and Saturday we hosted a Haunted House, throughout both nights we had over 150 people go through the Haunted House! Many people helped make the Haunted House a success we utilized volunteers from Pemberton and other areas to be scarers. The Haunted House has a $2 admission fee and the fee goes to Pemberton s PAWS for a Cause organization, HOPE, this year they raised more than ever, $332.
6 Carving the Budget Overall, we used our budget very effectively for All Hallows Week. This was our most expensive event of the semester, but we expected it to be so we planned ahead and set aside money to ensure we had enough to be successful. We found ways to utilize what we already had in hall to cut costs, while still having everything we needed to make the week of programming the best it could be. The Supernatural Goals Hall Council had several goals for All Hallows Week. The first of which was community building in general. The week provided multitudinous opportunities for the residence of Pemberton Hall to hang out in a relaxed and fun environment. A major goal was to get 75% of Pemberton residents to attend at least one event which is a goal we met easily. Our most important goal was to raise as much money as possible for HOPE. We ended up raising over $300 which is $100 more than the previous year.
7 The Resurrection from the Dead Though All Hallows Week went super smoothly there is always room for improvement. The Murder Mystery night had the best turn out, but next year the puzzle could be slightly easier and the amount of food ordered will be altered. Vegetarian options will also be added to next year s Murder Mystery. Pumpkin Painting was so popular we ran out of pumpkins so next year we will be prepared for more attendees. The last improvement would be adjusting the amount of scarers for the Haunted House. While this event was a complete success we could have benefited from a few more workers. Overall, this was an amazing set of programs that we will continue to utilize in the future.
8 Letter of Support All Hallows Week was such an amazing experience for the executive board. This was the first time that they really came together to do programming and I am so proud of the outcome. They worked diligently to plan ahead and know what needed to happen in advance. Throughout the week they worked tirelessly to setup and break down programs while also transforming the basement into a sunken ship and training scarers for the Haunted House. The residents of Pemberton were much more active than expected in these programs, they attended consistently and were visibly having a great time. Each program had at least 30 people in attendance and the executive board got very positive feedback from the hall. I am proud of the time and dedication that was put in to make these events a success. Since All Hallows week we have seen an increase in attendance at Hall Council and programs because when you put on fun programs and prove that they are worth others time, they will continue to come back. The executive board can and should take fully responsibility for their amazing programs during All Hallows week and the impact that it has made on the rest of their programming. All Hallows Week stemmed from the tradition of a Haunted House in Pemberton and this year it was so much more and the executive board has so much to be proud of! My hope is that All Hallows Week will become the tradition and that it continues, allowing the legacy of what the Pemberton Hall Executive Board to continue! Year! All Hallows Week truly deserves recognition as the Program Of The Letter of support written by Pemberton Hall Council Advisor, Katy Reinke.
