The Fairy Nice Trading Company presents Trick or Treat! by The Fairy Godmother
It was a dark, dark October night......and all the wisest children were asleep, warm in their beds dreaming of fairytale princesses and bold brave nights. And in one merry home, in the corner of a room, flat against the wall and just atop the skirting board, stood a tiny little door with a sparkling crystal door knob. Now to many this door was just a door a pretty little curiosity in a a happy little home. But a select few of us more intuitive peeps know that this little door was actually a secret portal that lead to an enchanted world of Fair Folk. Now I am not one to spin a yarn my dear, but folks will tell you that on that particular October night, in that particular home, it wasn't a Fairy or an Elf that slipped through that Magic Door. It wasn't a Pixie, or a Gnome or even a helpful little Brownie. No. On that dark night, through that Magic Door, slipped one of the most cheeky, most mischievous, most naughty little creatures you could ever have the misfortune to meet. On that dark night, though that Magic Door, slipped a GOBLIN From the moment he poked his naughty toe out of that Magic Door only one course of events was going to unfold, I'm so sorry to say. So when the children of the home awoke in the morning to their great surprise they found a little message outside their Magic Door and it simply read... Trick or treat!
Well, the children did not know quite what to make of this curious little message. It didn't seem like any message they had heard from their Fair Folk Friends before and they were quite unfamiliar with the mischievous pranks of a naughty goblin. The daring bigger brother thought the game could be terrific fun and because bigger brothers are always bold and fearless, he shouted "Trick!" as loud as he could at the little door. But the little sister was wisely more wary and hastily countered him in an anxious whisper "no, no! Treat! Treat, please".
Peeping through the keyhole, the Goblin gave a snigger, "What larks I shall have with these two," he jeered, and he scurried deep into Fairyland to prepare his pranks... The very next morning the game had begun. In front of their Magical Door the children discovered a small pot of Broccoli with a little sign peeping through the stalks that simply read "Trick!" "Oh!' sighed the sister a little sadly. Now, although mischievous, Goblins are not malicious and, at the sad little sigh of the sister, the Goblin furrowed his brow and had a good hard think The following day, what should appear outside the Magic Door, but a beautiful pot of flowers with a little message "treat!" And so the game continued thus, one morning trick and the next treat...
Trick A spooky ghost... TREAT A Fairy toast!
Trick TREAT
Trick Scary beasts... Treat A sweet feast!
Trick Goblin snacks and Witches brew... Treat Milk and biscuits as sweet as YOU!
On the last morning of October, after many days of fun and games with their new found friend the Naughty Goblin, the children scampered from their beds eager to see what was awaiting them this time. Beside the Magic Door was a tiny carved Pumpkin, and the Goblin's own broom and cauldron, bubbling with his special brand of Mischief Making Fairy Dust. And tucked just behind the cauldron was a little note that simply read: Dear Children, The time has come to say farewell, as I can hear the tolling bell, that calls me back to Goblin woods, where they try to teach me to be good. But as you know I find that tricky, and although I'm really not so wicked I must confess, I like to jest. I feel its when I'm at my best. So I really do have you to thank For letting me try out my pranks And soon I'll come back through your door so we can do it all some more! Happy Halloween The Naughty Goblin
