Location: Chad is a landlocked Country located in the center of Africa, between 7 o and 23 o North Latitude, 13 o and 24 o East Longitude. Neighbour Country: Libya to the North; Central African Republic to the South; Sudan to the East; and Niger, Nigeria and Cameroon to the West. Area: 1,284,000 sq km Population: people according the last census in 2009 Official languages: French and Arabic.
From geological point of view, Chad takes place in the mobile zone, between: The West Africa craton in the west, The Congolese craton in the south, The Nile craton in the northeast Tow main geological units which dominated in Chad: The Precambrian crystalline basement, The Paleozoic to quaternary sedimentary cover. The basement rocks occur in several massifs representing, the edges of three major Cratons. The majority of sedimentary cover lies within a Central depression.

Most of Chad was occupied by sedimentary rocks forming two basins: the Erdis basin in the Northest and the Lake Chad basin in the Center and south of the country. It is the Pan African Orogeny who is responsible for the formation of the Erdis basin whose the filling starts at the Primary continental in all, except a marine transgression during the Carboniferous. The Continental deposits continue for the Secondary period under sandstone form of the Nubian (Cretaceous). The thickness of the sediments of this basin is approximately 3 500m. In the Lake Chad basin, sedimentation begins in the lower Cretaceous after opening the big gap in the Upper Jurassic. Lower Cretaceous during the fragmentation of Gondwana and separation of Africa from South America about Ma. During the secondary deposits in the basin are mainly terrigenous river lake, marine incursions are rare. The filling of the basin by the continental deposits sandy- sandy, from massif bordering the basin has submitted an intense alteration by humid tropical climate continues at tertiary (continental terminal) and even quaternary. It is characterized by the alternation of wet and dry phases. The thickness of the formation in some gap reached more m (Doba) or reservoirs of hydrocarbons are formed. A marine transgression Reached the northern of Tibesti in the Eocene at the limit of a basin in Northern Chad, Libya and Egypt. Tertiary beginning with a major volcanic activity in the Tibesti region and has continued until the Quaternary.
west; There are six main basins in the Republic of Chad: the central Bongor Basin; the Doba, Doseo and Salamat Basins in the south, the Lake Chad Basin (an extension of the Trough out of Niger) in the west and the Al Kufra Basin (known as the Erdis Basin in Chad) in northern Chad, which extends into Libya.
Chad has the potential for sedimentary uranium mineralization that provides much more economically important deposits. Sandstone deposits may be depended on their geochemical environment and to the sedimentation environment of their host rocks. One clue of this type is known in Chad is one of boubao and Ouadi Bakou near Fada. it is a clue of urano thorianite conglomerate level in the Cambro-Ordovician of basic radioactive sandstone and other clues in the Precambrian basement close Ouadday. The sedimentary uranium deposits could be sought in the Cambro-Ordovician basic formation in northern Ouadday and Precambrian basement in sedimentary shell of the Tibesti Massif, it is rich in primary uranium occurrences and has a geological context similar to the Air massif in Niger.
Chad although a landlocked country but has a huge potential in uranium. The exploration and exploitation of the latter is hampered by multiple period of instability that had known the country. Studies have shown important clues in Mayo-Kebbi, Guera and in the Tibesti but details data are needed to estime the reserve
