1 Specifications Appendix 1 1. Requirements for each course (1)Discipline : Petroleum Business Subject : E & P Business Simulation Duration 4 days Intermediate - Advanced Geologists, geophysicists, drilling engineers, production engineers, reservoir engineers with 5-10 years experience and other personnel who need to improve their understanding of petroleum business. This course is designed to allow groups working within the E&P sector to experience the process of formulating a Country Business Plan over the medium term. The event will draw in technical, commercial and management skills as the teams work on building a 5-year plan for a business composed of one producing asset, an appraised discovery, several exploration opportunities, and limited infrastructure. This requires close integration of the disciplines to establish a forward plan which is technically, financially and environmentally viable. Essentials Case study Basic of exploration, development and production Gap analysis Analysis of competitors and stakeholders Risk registers and risk matrices SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses opportunities and threats) PEST analysis (political, economic, social, technical) Country risk analysis Cash flow planning Crisis management e.g. Oracle Crystall Ball, etc. (This software is a spreadsheet-based application for risk measurement and reporting, Monte Carlo simulation, time-series forecasting and optimization. Crystal Ball provides a realistic and accessible way of modeling uncertainty enabling you to measure and report on the risk inherent in your key metrics.) (2)Discipline : Geology Subject : Basic Logging Methods and Formation Evaluation Geologists, geophysicists, drilling engineers, reservoir engineers with 5-10 years experience. This course delivers a good understanding of log data acquisition and interpretation techniques and how to apply log quality control practices. (3)Discipline : Geology Subject : Geochemistry for petroleum systems and source rock evaluation Geologists, geophysicists with 1-5 years experience. This five-day course focuses on the Geochemical tools which can improve discovery success by identifying and characterizing the petroleum systems. Lectures show how geochemistry can evaluate the source rock and reduce the risk associated with basin modeling case studies. Essentials Petroleum systems Hydrocarbons Source Rocks (Shale, Carbonate, Coal) Kerogen Deposition of source rocks Evaluating source rocks Petroleum generation and changing of kerogen Kinetics Expulsion and adsorption Geochemical prospect evaluation Reservoir geochemistry Thermal events Basin modeling case studies Unconventional oil and gas e.g. Trinity, Genesis, PetroMod, etc. Commercial software would be preferred
