11 The INSPIRE Directive A framework directive to lay down general rules aimed at the establishment of the Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community. Primary purpose of the directive is to provide relevant spatial information in support of Community environmental policies. The European infrastructure will be built upon National SDIs. Page 11
