2 Overall Risk Rating Moderate Moderate Implementation Status and Key Decisions Project implementation has shown progress in terms of overall project management and disbursements. The update of three management plans of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in Egypt, Jordan and Djibouti has been completed and the community sustainable livelihood sub-projects have started in two pilot sites in Egypt and Sudan respectively. The project has conducted series of national workshops and training sessions on monitoring the indicators of the impact of wastewater on coral reefs with the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden region. Finally, the project facilitated the adoption of the regional protocol on cooperation in the management of fisheries and aquaculture in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The Protocol which was signed February 28th 2017, provides the legal basis for collaborative and coordinated mechanisms among PERSGA states to regulate fisheries, adopt regional bio-security and bio-safety systems in aquaculture, and implement ecosystem approach to fishery management and aquaculture development. They are trained on methods of monitoring agreed upon common variables. The agreed common variables are water quality, fisheries and coral reef habitats.
