HANOTA MAJOR PROJECT TEHSIL : KHURAI DISTRICT : SAGAR REPORT 1.INTRODUCTION AND PROJECT DESCRIPTION The Proposed dam site is located across river Bina near village Hanota Tehsil Khurai, District Sagar of Madhya Pradesh. The site is located on topo sheet no 55L/4 &55L/8 with latitude N and longitude E. The site is situated about 60 km away from Sagardistrict headquarters. 2. HYDROLOGY: The total area drained by Bina river uptokhurai major Dam Project is sq.km. The catchment area upper reaches is hilly and forest and in lower reaches area rich culturable land is available as per topographical map. Estimation of design floods is an essential prerequisite for rational and safe design ofmajor hydraulic structures. The proposed Hanota Irrigation Project comprises of suchstructures- dams on river Bina viz., According to IS (1985) selection of design flood is governed by the gross storage and hydraulic height of dam. Considering the proposed storage and height particulars of these structures, the following design floods are selected for design of the spillway and checking safety of dam against overtopping Cumecs Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) 3.BASIN AND SUBMERGENCE: The water spread area at FRL of M is ha. The breakup of affected land is as under: S.N o Particulars Approval in 1 st Revision 1 No. of Villages Submerged 46 3 Total Area in Hectare Ha. (a) Private Land Ha. (b) Government / Revenue Land Ha (c) Forest Land 0.00 Ha. Thus the submergence percentage is 7.03 % for cultivated land to annual irrigation area. The total submergence percentage 8.90 % to annual irrigation area. Suitable provision has

been made for private Culturable & unculturable land compensation. The compensation of land and Houses are calculated as per collector guide line The average cost of irrigated &un -irrigated land are respectively 8.73 Lakh per Ha. and 5.05 Lakh per Ha. All the details are enclosed in R&R plan. 4. PRINCIPAL LEVELS; 1. Top Level of Dam: mt 2. Top level of Gates of Dam: mt. 3. Crest Level of Dam: 418mt. 4. River Bed Level: 405.8mt. 5. (iv) Proposed Kharif Area 0 Ha (v) Annual Irrigation 40000Ha 8.CANAL SYSTEM: It consists of a pressurized pipe system of approx km. to irrigate 40000ha area of Sagar and Chhatarpur district. After construction of this dam,4500 Ha (approximately) in drought prone land of Khuraitehsil,24000 Ha (approximately) of Bina Tehsil of sagar

District and Ha (approximately) of Kurwai Tehsil of Vidisha district will be irrigated through pressurized pipe irrigation system. 9.FLOOD CONTROL The dam is proposed on Hanota Irrigation Project near village Hanota. Peak flood (PMF) at dam site is comes out to be Cumecs. 11 no. of gates of 10*12.5M has been provided to pass the flood which is sufficient for safe operation. Drainage depending on the slope of the land, underline strata and climate of the area the river channel develops dendritic drainage pattern. 10.ESTIMATE: The estimate is prepared based on U.C.S.R. of M.P. Water Resources Department in force since Total cost works out to Rs Lakhs, 12 % GST&Establisment charges has been included in the estimates. Unit-I: The cost of head works of HanotaDamincluding spillway, outlet works, gates, energy dissipation devices, etc. have been worked out under this head and estimated as Rs lakhsat USR (including GST &Establisment charges ) Unit-II: The cost of proposed main telescopic pipe canal network, piped distribution network, micro irrigation works inclusive of all pucca works, drainage works, regulator including intake structures, Pump Houses, cost of pumps, motors & electromechanical work, land acquisition & construction of the all components, etc. has been worked out and is estimated as Rs lakhs at USR price level. (Including GST &Establismentcharges) Thus, the total cost of the project has been estimated as Rs lac Sub -head wise details shown in table below:

Establishment Charges % (excluding B- Land, ) ADD 12% GST Grand Total B.C. Ratio of the project is RECOMMENDATION: The Hanota Irrigation Project is located in Khurai tehsil of Sagar district. The Dam is proposed on Bina River which is tributary of Betwa River. The river originates from dahgaon village of Gairatganj Tehsil of Raisen District and after traversing a distance of 80 km, dam site is located. The water available at proposed site is about 1.60times of what is required at the site. The full utilization of the water available could not be possible because construction of reservoir having a large submergence area includes costly Culturable land. The site is the best suitable location available to construct a major irrigation project in the Bina river of MP area. The proposed command covers villages of Khurai and bina of sagar and Kurwai Tehsil of Vidisha district existing cultivators of the command area of especially Bina having, an acute shortage of water for irrigation and their daily need. They have to depend on the monsoon and also the topography of the area is almost undulated so that there is no other source of irrigation facility because the average level of cultivable area is much higher than the river flow level and ground water is insufficient to irrigate the command area. Therefore this project shall provide a modern method of irrigation by means of sprinkler and drip irrigation by storing water in the Dam upto a suitable level and then lifting the water to a highest available ground level so that irrigation through pressurized pipe can be provided to the cultivators. It will generate employment during the construction period. The project also includes provision of water for domestic use. The total construction cost of the project is Rs lac and recommended for early approval.

Looking to the current price, the cost of scheme is reasonable and within departmental norms. Therefore the scheme is feasible and suitable for construction. Hanota Irrigation Project strongly recommended for construction to irrigate Ha of CCA of Sagar and Vidisha district.
