Consents Resource Consents Map Select the map from the Maps introduction page If you have the map browser open the Resource Consents map will also display when selected in the top right of the Map Window.
The map opens showing the whole region. TA boundary, regional boundary and Google maps are initially shown to give context. Main Workflows View Resource Consent location and details. This map allows you to view Resource Consent location and details. The resource consent location points are switched on by default in the legend but only become visible at map scales between 1 to 1 and 1 to 350,000 (above this there are way to many points to make them out).
Tip: To turn available layers on or off check or uncheck the box in the legend next to the name. Use the Zoom and Pan Tools wish to check the resource consents. to browse to a location that you As you go between 1 and 350,000 the resource consent locations become available, shown as coloured dots that correspond to the consent type as listed in the legend. Note the pop up labels that give you information about the layers as you hover over the map
Resource Consent. Tip: The pop up label you get depends on the highest entry in the legend sequence you have displayed. Toggle on and off the layers in the legend to show just the layers you want. Note: Other map details can be added if you tick them on in the Base layers, e.g. Road Centerline. As you zoom in to property scale (less than 1 to 10,000) the Aerial Photography and Property layer (purple lines) are automatically displayed.
Find information about the Consents. If you use the Feature Info tool under the Tools tab and left click on a resource consent point you get some further details about the consent from the council resource consent database.
Search for a consent using a Consents query Rather than browsing for consent as shown above it may be easier to search for it if you know the Resource Consent Number Select the Pre-defined Queries Tool from the top toolbar. There are six queries available. Address, Road, Places, Valuation, Legal and Mark_IT. In the Consents query you need to enter a valid resource consent number (or the first part of it) e.g. entering will return all the consents that start with those numbers. Click button to start search. The query will return all the consents that match the number you entered. Click on the red pushpin next to a record to see just that record.
The map window will zoom automatically to that consent and highlight it hot pink Tip: To clear highlighted features in the map between queries use the Refresh Map tool
Search for Consents using the Address using a query Rather than browsing for a consent as shown above it may be easier to search for it if you know the address where it is located Select the Simple Query Window Tool from the top toolbar and choose the Address query. In the Address query you need to enter both a House Number and all or the beginning part of the Street Name e.g. entering Vic will find both Victoria and Vickery. There is no need to enter Street, St, Road Rd etc the name is sufficient. to start the search. Click button In this case only one result is found so that is automatically selected and zoomed in on. The map window automatically zooms to that address and highlights it hot pink. You can now see if there are any consents on or near that address.
Tip: To clear highlighted property and select the consents points untick the Query Search for a consent using NZTM coordinates on the map This query allows you to enter NZTM map coordinates and center the map on the location on the map. Click the Centering map with an input NZTM coordinate Tool from the Tools tab. Enter your NZTM easting and northing as shown. and the map will zoom to that location at a default scale of 1:1,000 Click Center

Search for location using other queries The following queries work in a similar way to the Address query. Road Query: In the Road query enter all or the beginning part of the Road Name e.g. entering cambridge will find both Cambridge Street and Cambridge Road. to start the search. Click button Click on the row with the road you wish to see and the map will zoom to it.

Valuation Query: In the Valuation query enter a valid Valuation reference number. These can be found on rates bill and valuation notices. Typical number format is 04525/107/00. button to start the search. Click In this case only one result is found so you can click on it and will zoom in on selected row in the Map Window.

Legal Query: In the Legal description query enter all or part of a known land parcel Legal Description. These can be typically found on a certificate of title. to start the search. Click button Select the record you wish to see and the map will zoom to it.
The legal query finds parcels of land (as shown on land titles). Clicking on a found land parcel gives you some further details about the piece of land.
