Enabling ENVI throughh ArcGIS for Server 1
Imagery: A Unique and Valuable Source of Data Imagery is not just a base map, but a layer of rich information that can address problems faced by GIS users. > Provide data dt availability over broad and inaccessible areas > Improve timeliness of data acquisition > Improve accuracy of GIS information > Automate extraction of features for reduction in manual digitization > Spectral image properties allow for unique geospatial analysis 2
ENVI, ENVI LiDAR and IDL ENVI LiDAR An interactive geospatial software environment that lets you create realistic 3D Visualizations and easily extract important features and products from LiDAR point cloud data. 3
Esri and Exelis Visual Information Solutions Product Integration Since 2006, Exelis Visual InformationSolutions and Esri have been working in partnership to leverage their combined expertise in the fields of image analysis and geomatics to develop robust integration features between their respective industry leadingproducts, ENVI and ArcGIS. 4
ENVI Desktop and ArcMap Interoperability > Single Click Push ENVI and ENVI LiDAR data layers to ArcMap > Drag and drop layers from ArcMap into ENVI > Geo link ENVI display with ArcMap display > Publish Esri style map layouts from within ENVI
Access ENVI Tools directly through ArcToolbox in ArcMap Data Output Raster ArcGIS Finished Product > ENVI image analysis tools are available directly through the ArcMap interface > Drag and drop ENVI functionality directly into your ModelBuilder workflows > Build customized workflows leveraging functionality from both platforms
ArcGIS for Server Make GIS Available Everywhere > ArcGIS for Server by Esri improves the way your business works by bringing the power of GIS into the hands of everyone in your organization, enabling better decision making > Web GIS implemented with ArcGIS for Server allows maps, geographic information, and geoprocessing gtasks to be accessed anywhere, anytime, on any device 7
ENVI Services Engine (ESE) Image and Data Analytics for the Cloud and Enterprise The ENVI Services Engine (ESE) is a cloud and/or enterprise based processing engine which leverages the power of IDL, ENVI, and ENVI LiDAR analytics to create products for consumption by desktop, thin, or mobile clients. Because ESE analytics are performed server side, these applications can retrieve, process, and publish data to the cloud without ever running any data I/O or processing on the client computer or device. A client can be anything that speaks HTTP, such as IDL, a webpage, C++, etc... This allows developers to write applications in the language of their choice, then use ESE to do analytics using IDL, and the ENVI and ENVI LiDAR Application Programming Interface (API). Because it is deployed on a server, it is always "on", giving you on demand distributed processing over an enterprise network or on the web.
ENVI for ArcGIS Services Edition (EFASE) ENVI Services Engine image processing integrated with ArcGIS for Server > Publish a set of ready to use ENVI geoprocessing tools to your ArcGIS for Server enterprise network > Use ENVI desktop to create custom geoprocessing tools > Run the ENVI tools remotely from ArcMap, or from custom web browser or mobile client apps > Exelis Visual Information Solutions Professional Services Group can help you develop apps, or your can build your own with ArcGIS APIs or mobile SDKs > End users can access ENVI tools from your enterprise network or share them via ArcGIS Online
ENVI for ArcGIS Services Edition (EFASE) Architecture ENVI for ArcGIS Services Edition automatically generates and publishes ArcGIS for Server geoprocessing services that encapsulate ESE tasks When these services are called, ArcGIS for Server sends a request to ENVI Services Engine to execute the task The services are deployed to an instance of ArcGIS for Server Results are delivered back to ArcGIS for Server for further analysis, or displayed in a variety of web, desktop, or mobile clients. HTTP REST requests are made from middleware to server > EFASE automatically generates and publishes ArcGIS for Server geoprocessing services that encapsulate ESE tasks > EFASE also supports publishing custom developed ESE tasks to an instance of ArcGIS for Server > ENVI geoprocessing services deployed to ArcGIS for Server can be accessed through a variety of clients, including ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, or custom web applications > When services are called, ArcGIS for Server sends a request to ENVI Services Engine to execute the task > Results are delivered back to ArcGIS for Server for further analysis, or > Results can be stored to file, displayed on a desktop, across an enterprise, or on any device that has access to the world wide web
Simple Look at Architecture Client ArcGISServer ENVI Services Engine ENVI + IDL ArcMap Publish
ENVI Geoprocessing Tools Published to ArcGIS for Server 12
Example: Access EFASE Tools in ArcMap > End users can access EFASETools by connecting to ArcGIS for Server through ArcMap > By deploying ENVI tasks through ArcGISfor Server, you only have to deploy it once for everyone in an organization to begin using it > Thisremoves the need to install and update desktop software on individual machines by centralizing ENVI, IDL and ENVI LiDAR processing tasks > This is an excellent way to share custom ENVI image processing functionality 13
Example: Access EFASE Tools through ArcGIS Online > Tools can be deployed to an ArcGIS Online account, allowing for access outside of an enterprise network via the world wide web > This allows developers to create custom applications that incorporate ENVI image analysis algorithms 14
Example: Custom Web Application > Customweb applicationscancan run EFASE tasks on data from a variety of distributed sources > Data can come from local or shared network drives, di image services, or stored data catalogs > Additional information, such as Esribasemaps and layer managers, can be added to applications > This mashup of data, map information, and processing from a variety of sources allows users to quickly access, view and extract the information theyneed fromremotely remotely sensed data. 15
