The Right Choice Merck Solvents for Analysis Highest quality wide range of applications
The right choice a suitable solvent for every application Throughout the world, solvents from Merck are synonymous with reliability and top quality. All our products undergo continuous development to meet increasing quality requirements. The extent and quality of our product range reflect the results of this work and the feedback received from our customers all over the world. We have solvents to suit every application. gaschromatography HPLC for analysis spectroscopy dried solvents preparative laboratory applications and production Great additional benefit Nowadays, the requirements made of a solvent are much higher than its actual product characteristics. In addition to analytical purity, factors such as handling, safety and documentation all play an increasingly important role. Solvents from Merck fulfil these requirements in full. Increased specifications We have developed a new and comprehensive set of specifications for solvents of analysis quality. For our customers, this means an extraordinarily wide range of applications, maximum reliability and proven safety. Comprehensive range With almost 70 solvents for analysis, (such as the multi talent for qualitative and quantitative analysis, for extraction, synthesis, as well as for sophisticated product applications) Merck offers a range to satisfy every need. That all-important added value An unparalleled range of packaging, withdrawal systems and services adds the finishing touch to what we have to offer: an all-inclusive package in which components are finely tuned down to the very last detail. You couldn t hope for a better partner than Merck for individual laboratory applications. Merck the partner for added value. 2
Highest quality throughout the work process Selected raw materials Our special quality claim starts as early as the careful selection of high-quality raw materials. We only use select source materials of known origin and have defined the requirements for raw materials in collaboration with our suppliers. We monitor compliance with these guidelines on an ongoing basis to ensure a safe basis for the production of high-quality solvents. Innovative manufacturing methods Subsequent treatment of the raw materials takes place in one of the world s most advanced production and filling plants for high-purity solvents. It was developed and constructed according to stringent requirements to ensure optimum production processes and outstanding product quality. Plant operation is largely fully automatic with product-specific filling lines. Our distillation and filling capacities are unique the world over and enable rapid, flexible handling. Experienced chemical analysis with comprehensive documentation A certificate of analysis issued for each individual solvent documents the high quality of our products. Highly efficient chemical analysis that works with reliable, validated methods and with state-of-the-art technology ensures strict compliance with all specification values. Diverse packing material and withdrawal systems Only high-quality packaging and withdrawal systems selected with meticulous care in accordance with the respective content can fully preserve the quality of the solvents. We thus offer a particularly extensive range of drums, withdrawal systems and accessories. Safe application results High batch consistency is crucial for your daily work in the laboratory. After all, the results of your chemical analysis depend on the quality of the materials used and must be reproducible at all times. Merck solvents offer you maximum reliability in this regard. 3
The right choice best specifications for highest quality For solvents for analysis, Merck has always offered an unrivalled range of comprehensive and extensive specifications. For our customers, this means top product quality and maximum analysis safety. In addition, the extensive product specification enables the use of solvents in a variety of complex applications. For example, the documented values for metals guarantee use for flame photometric measurements. The inclusion of organic parameters also enables the classification of unwanted side reactions. We also take great care to continue to improve our specifications and to adapt these to changing requirements. In this way, we harmonise our specifications with international standards or extend them to include new parameters. Using this method, we are able to offer our customers optimum safety for a wide variety of different applications. Specified in accordance with international standards International rules and regulations are becoming increasingly important. During this process, not only are inspection and manufacturing methods clearly regulated and comparable throughout the world, but the quality of the materials used is also defined. In addition to ISO regulations (International Organisation of Standardisation), the codes of the pharmaceutical industry (American and European Pharmacopoeia) in particular prescribe a high and defined purity for reagents, for example, for use in pharmaceutical quality control. Whenever a solvent is described in one of these standards, for example, the ACS (American Chemical Society), we meet the relevant requirements. Validated methods in accordance with the ACS and Reag. PhEur (new!) We declare our solvents to be in compliance with the ACS 9 th edition and now also the reagent part of the European Pharmacopoeia (Reag. PhEur) for analysis purposes. We exclusively use the latest and validated analysis methods for this purpose. However, with our extensive product specifications, we do more than just fulfil these requirements in many areas, we even exceed them by a substantial margin. Thus, for users in pharmaceutical quality control in particular, solvents for analysis from Merck are the safest choice also with regard to compliance with international audit requirements. 4
New specifications Continuous optimisation of the manufacturing processes and the selection of only the very best raw materials has enabled us to further improve the quality of our solvents. As a result of this process optimisation, we are now able to clearly tighten up the specifications for the most important solvents and to extend them to include additional analysis results. The new specifications take into account up to 60 parameters. In addition to improved values for purity, water content and evaporation residue, it is now additional metals and secondary components that make the scope of the new specifications unique and that highlight the high quality level compared with that of other suppliers: Acetone for analysis Purity in % Water in % Evaporation residue in % Number of parameters Merck Competitor Competitor Competitor Competitor Ethanol for analysis Purity in % Water in % Evaporation residue in % Number of parameters Merck Competitor Competitor Competitor Methanol for analysis Purity in % Water in % Evaporation residue in % Number of parameters Merck Competitor Competitor Competitor Competitor Acetone for analysis Purity Evaporation residue Number of parameters in % 100,0 99,9 99,8 99,7 99,6 99,5 99,4 99,3 99,2 99,1 99,0 Merck 99.8 % Competitors 99.5 % in % 0,001 0,0009 0,0008 0,0007 0,0006 0,0005 0,0004 0,0003 0,0002 0, Merck % Competitors % Merck Competitors
