The molecular structure of polydimethylsiloxane ptimum HPLC separation was obtained with a binary mobile phase composed of ultra pure water (solvent A) and acetonitrile (with 0.1% formic acid). The gradient elution program was as follows: 0-2 min=10% B, 2-4 min=10%-20% B, min=20% B, min=20%-25% B, min=25%-80% B, min=80%b, min= 80%-10% B, min=10%.the other LC parameters were as follows: flow=0.25 ml/min; column temperature=30 C; injection volume=10 µl; auto sampler temperature=10 C. The MS was operated in positive electrospray ionization (ESI) mode, and the data were collected in multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode. The optimal ESI parameters were as follows: electrospray source block and desolvatation temperature 120 and 400 C, respectively; capillary voltage 3.5 kv. The source temperature and desolvation temperature were held at 200 C and 400 C; cone and desolvatation gas flows were 50 and 800 L/h, respectively. Nitrogen (>99.9% purity) and Argon (>99.999% purity; Fuzhou Xinhang Gas Co., Ltd., Fuzhou, China) was used as cone 4

5 desolvatation and collision gases, respectively. The basic properties of analytes and the other MS parameters (Precursor Ion, PI; Fragmentor Votage, FV; Daughter Ions, DI; Collision Energy, CE) are listed in Table S1. SBSE procedure: Stirring extraction and stirring liquid desorption modes were used in this work. The aqueous samples were stirred by SBSE-VPMB at 400 rpm at room temperature. After extraction, the SBSE was removed and immersed in 3.0 ml methanol, stirring for a certain time to release the extracted analytes. Then the stir bar was removed by means of a magnetic rod, while the stripping solvent was evaporated to dryness under a gently stream of nitrogen. The dried residue was re-dissolved in 0.5 ml 20% (V/V) methanol aqueous for HPLC/MS/MS analysis. The used SBSE-VPMB was placed into 3.0 ml of methanol under ultrasonication for 5 min for cleaning and then taken out for the next use. ptimization of MS/MS conditions: For the selection of quantitative ions, the ionization mode (ESI + /ESI ) should first be decided according to chemical ionization characteristics of sulfonamides. The quantitative ion m/z of each sulfonamide was subsequently confirmed by direct injection of 5.0 µg/l standard solution into the mass spectrometer. Results showed that much higher [M+H] + abundance of all the analytes was obtained under the ESI + mode than ESI mode. Therefore, the ESI + ionization mode for SAs was used in this study. To further obtain a high sensitivity of SAs, the MS/MS parameters including capillary voltage, cone voltage, source temperature, desolvation temperature, cone gas flow and desolvation gas flow were tuned by on-line scan (see details in Section 2.3). Suitable injection solution can increase the MS signal of SAs. Methanol, ultrapure water, and Milli-Q water/methanol (8:2, v/v) were compared as injection solutions for diluting the working standard mixture of sulfonamides (5.0 µg/l) for detection by HPLC-MS/MS. The results indicated when Milli-Q water/methanol (8:2, v/v) was used as the injection solution, the peak areas for the quantitative ion were larger than with the other solvents. Therefore, a mixture of Milli-Q water/methanol (8:2, v/v) was selected as the injection solution. 5
