2 Seminars/Conferences: Seminar on NanoScience and Technology held at Coimbatore in Jan Seminar on Nanoscience & Drug Design held at Coimbatore. Three days Symposium on Basic Physics held at Coimbatore in August National Seminar on NanoBiotehnology held at Coimbatore in September M.Sc. Curriculum: During our M. Sc. Course we have studied the physics papers such as classical and statistical mechanics, quantum mechanics, condensed matter physics, fundamental of nanosciences and the basic organic, in-organic and environmental chemistry which we need to continue to study the nano science. In the fundamental of nanoscience paper deals with basics of nanosciences, basics problems and limitations, size dependent properties, forces present between nanomaterials. The second semester we have studied papers such as synthesis of nanomaterial, characterization of nanomaterial, Nano electronics, Medical Biotechnology. The synthesis of nanomaterial paper deals with basic concepts of nanomaterial, growth mechanism of nanomaterial, film deposition system such as sputtering, sol-gelmethod, chemical vapors deposition, molecular beam epitaxy and types of carbon nanotubes, properties. Characterization of nanomaterial, deals with scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, mechanical properties of nanomaterials, X- ray and neutron diffraction, light interaction with nanomaterial. Nanoelectronics paper gave an overview of quantum electronic devices, single electron transistor, molecular electronics, nanotube based sensors and memory devices. The medical bio-technology deals with in-vivo and in-vitro process, culturing of artificial organs, fertilization, transplantation of artificial organ. The third semester papers are nanolithography, nanobiotechnology, nanomedicine & drug delivery system, nanoscale magnetic materials and devices. The nanolithography deals with the topics such as optical lithography, electron- beam lithography, ion- beam lithography, nano lithography techniques, proximal probe lithography. Nanobiotechnology deals with nanomaterial composites, protein based nanostructure, biological computing, DNA smart glue, quantum dot biolabelling, DNA analyzer chip. The drug delivery paper deals with nanosensors, nanocarriers for drug, targeted drug delivery for reticulate endothelial system, cancer (brain, lungs ), drug carriers such as (dendrimers, nanoshell, aerosol, fullerenes), nanomaterials for imaging process etc. In nano scale magnetic material and devices deals with magnetic fundamentals, spintronics, basics of nanomagetism, fabrication of nanomaterial and characterization magnetic nanomaterial, application such as (magnetic storage,magneto résistance, magneto-optic recording spintronic devices). We also studied the spectroscopy paper which deals with IR, Raman and NMR spectroscopy, Mossbauer and Microwave spectroscopy, electron spin spectroscopy and group theory.
