4 LCQ Fleet Ion Trap LC/MS n The Solution For Compound Screening and Identification Maximize LC/MS information with rapid and reliable compound detection and structural identification In clinical and forensic toxicology, LC-MS is increasingly used for the detection and identification of unknown xenobiotics in general unknown screening (GUS) studies or systematic toxicological analysis (STA). The inherent capability of the ion trap mass spectrometer to provide structural information using MS n data makes it the preferred instrument for confident identification of unknown compounds. LCQ Fleet is the ideal instrument for the comprehensive and accurate GUS analysis in a high-throughput environment. The LCQ Fleet allows the identification of groups of GUS compounds using library searches in minutes.

Multiple MS n spectra (up to MS 5 ) were acquired in both positive and negative ionization modes to provide comprehensive structural information of the component of interest. The fragmentation spectra were analyzed using Mass Frontier software, and the corresponding substructures to all the major peaks were assigned automatically as illustrated.
