Zeus In Greek mythology Zeus was the most powerful G-d. He played the role as: King of the G-d s Lord of the sky G-d of weather Enforcer of the law and justice Jupiter In Roman mythology Jupiter was also known as the most powerful G-d. He played the same roles as Zeus: King of the G-d s Lord of the sky G-d of weather Enforcer of the law and justice Zeus and Jupiter are considered to be the same people in different times and different cultures.

Zeus s family Parents: Mom- Rhea Dad- Cronus Siblings: Hestia Demeter Hades - ruler of the underworld Poseidon - ruler of the seas Hera Zeus was said to be married to his sister Hera, but he had many love affairs with other woman. Jupiter s family Parents: Mom- Ops Dad- Saturn Siblings: Ceres Pluto - ruled the underworld Neptune - ruled the seas Vesta Juno Jupiter was also married to one of his sisters; Juno. He was also said to have had many love affairs with other woman.

Zeus/ Jupiter s Children Sense both Zeus and Jupiter were known as men that had many love affairs; they had many children with many different women. Zeus and Jupiter liked to use their powers to transform and seduce woman. Zeus had 4 children with Hera: Ares Hebe Hephaestus Eileithyia Jupiter has 3 children with Juno: Mars Juventia Vulcan

How did Zeus/ Jupiter become the king of the G-ds? Cronus/ Saturn (Zeus/ Jupiter s fathers) were afraid that their children might overpower them. So they swallowed their first five children. Of course his children did not die when he swallowed them, they just couldn t get out either. When Rhea/Ops had Zeus/ Jupiter she hid him from her husband, so he wouldn't swallow him too. When Zeus/Jupiter grew older he wanted to rescue his brothers and sisters. So he disguised himself so that his father wouldn't notice him. He forced Cronus/ Saturn to drink a special liquid; which made him cough up all his children. Then Zeus/Jupiter and all of his brothers and sisters went to war with their father. They eventually won the war, and Zeus/Jupiter equally divided parts universe up with his brothers. Zeus/Jupiter may have been the youngest but he was the most powerful of all his siblings.

Powers/Weapons Both Zeus and Jupiter's main weapons are lightning bolts. Their winged horses Pegasus would carry their lightning bolts, and they trained an eagle to retrieve them They could also control the weather, causing use storms and rain. Zeus/Jupiter was able to mimic people's voices, and shape shift into any animal or person.

Zeus/Jupiter s Symbols Zeus/Jupiter s symbols were: The thunderbolt The eagle The sceptre The bull The oak tree

Zeus in the Iliad There is rarely a moment in the Iliad where Zeus presence is not felt. Sense he is the most powerful G-d, we are given many impressions about his role of power.

Zeus/Jupiter personality Zeus/Jupiters personality was described as, a carefree G-d who loved to laugh out loud. He was knowledgeable, merciful, and very unpredictable. He was also easily angered, which could be very destructive. He has thrown lightning bolts and caused violent storms because of his anger.

Zeus/Jupiter s Appearance Zeus/Jupiter's appearance was said to be, strong, powerful, middle-aged, imposing and regal with curly hair. He was often crowed with a wreath of olive leaves.

Differences between Zeus and Jupiter Differences between Zeus and Jupiter: Zeus often came down to earth to mingle with mortals, Jupiter rarely left the heavens. Zeus could have been ousted by other G-ds; not that they ever tried it or wanted it. Jupiter could not be ousted by other G-ds. Zeus was Greek, Jupiter was Roman.

Similarities between Zeus and Jupiter Similarities between Zeus and Jupiter: Both married to their sister. Both were fond of their children. The children of both had special magical powers. They both had more power than any other G-d. They could both shape shift. They both threw lightning bolts.
