3 The way children learn is different from adults. They don t reach for the manual before operating TV. They learn by doing, by interacting with the world around them. The Butterfly Fields interactive models are designed around how children learn.
4 Butterfly Fields has developed its own Hands-on-Learning methodology most suited to the Indian schools. It has been refined many times over by testing it with those that matter the most more than 5,00,000 children from 3,500 schools. It has 6 steps.

6 Step 1 Discover The students get to know the properties of each material, that they will use to build the material. This helps relate to the world around them.
7 For each activity, each student will get a tool kit, which contains all the materials to build the hands-on-learning model.
8 Step 2 Build The students build the model using the material with the guidance of the teacher and a story board. This helps develop the skill of hand-mind coordination.
9 The story board is a friendly, step-by-step guide to build the model. Story Board Insert the metal rod into the small ball Insert the other end of metal rod into the bead Pass the rod through the small hole on the PVC pipe Insert the other end of metal rod in to the small pulley Stick a double sided tape on to the large pulley Pass the straw through the pulley as shown Insert the straw into the PVC pipe Bulb Insert the bulb in to the straw and attach double sided tape Insert the straw in to the big ball Connect the 2 pulleys using a rubber band Attach the bulb wires to the batteries Hold the straw and rotate the model to see different phases of the moon
10 Step 3 Understand The students use the model to get a practical understanding of the concept. This process helps them develop analytical thinking abilities.
11 The Activity Work Sheet helps the students learn the concept behind the model by questioning and debating it, with guidance from the teacher.
