2 What are Constellations? A group of stars that form a pattern associated with a story Each constellation has one bright star with a significant name and placement The bright stars were given their name as the focus/purpose of the constellation The earth is in the constellation appearing in the Eastern sky as the sun rises. The constellations correlate with the months. There are 12 constellations in the Zodiac (Latin meaning path of animals). Each Zodiac constellation has three other constellations associated with them called decans, totaling 48 constellations in the sky.
