Analysis Plan in Korea (Activities in Korea) Ju Hwan Kang (Yonsei) ALICE Analysis Workshop for Asian Communities January 21-23, 2010 Hiroshima University, Japan
ALICE Members in Korea Yonsei Univ Ju Hwan Kang, Youngil Kwon TRD, R&D for a forward EM calorimeter ( production) Pusan Nat Univ In-Kwon Yoo HMPID, R&D for VHMPID (PID jets) Sejong Univ Seyong Kim, Dae Sung Hwang Hadron structure, Hydrodynamic property of QGP (theory) Kangneung Nat Univ / Konkuk Univ Do-won Kim, Sung-Chul Lee, Sunkun Oh TOF, Muon Trigger System (Upsilon)
Main Activities by Yonsei Focus on physics related to production. < Related Activities > TRD & Data collection ( * e + e - ) R&D for a forward EM calorimeter (high Pt )
(Plastic fiber + Air) Transition radiation (TR) is produced if a highly relativistic (γ>900) particle traverses many boundaries between materials with different dielectric properties. Electrons can be identified using total deposited charge, and signal intensity as function of drift time.
Electrons from real TRD data Electrons are the conversions electrons (Minv<20 MeV/c^2) for pt>1 GeV/c, pions are selected with a cut in the de/dx signal of the TPC
Student at CERN, participating in TRD integration and taking shift
Current status First data will come soon. We will continue slow but steady efforts until we collect enough statistics for measurement. Feasibility as an year 1 measurement is in debate.
R&D for a forward EM calorimeter EM Shower in W-Si Sandwich calorimeter 15mm, R M 20cm, 20X 0, 1λ
Exercise for Si-sensor production
