3 SAFETY MESSAGES CAUTION The safety messages contained in this manual are to be used together with the Safety Messages appearing in the tractor operator s manual. Be sure to review both carefully before operating the tractor snow plow combination. CAUTION: Regard your snow plow as a piece of power equipment and be sure this is understood by all who operate it. CAUTION: Never allow children or young teenagers to operate the tractor and snow plow. CAUTION: Be sure you know how to stop the tractor and snow plow at a moment s notice. CAUTION: Check the tractor and plow to make sure that both are in good operating condition. CAUTION: Fill gas tank outdoors and avoid spilling gasoline. Do not fill tank with gasoline while smoking or while engine is running. CAUTION: Keep the area of operation clear of all persons particularly small children. ALWAYS: 1) Shut off tractor engine, 2) Set parking brake, and 3) Wait for all motion to stop. BEFORE approaching or allowing anyone else to approach the front of the tractor to: 1) Change position of snow plow, 2) Service or adjust snow plow or tractor, or 3) For any other reason. CAUTION: Before the first snowfall, the area in which snow removal is to take place should be cleared of all stones, sticks, ect., which might be picked up by the snow plow. OBSTACLES SUCH AS DRIVEWAY MARKERS, WATER OR GAS SHUTOFFS, ECT. SHOULD BE MARKED SO THEIR LOCATIONS UNDER THE SNOW ARE VERY OBVIOUS. CAUTION: Stop engine and lower snow plow when tractor is unattended. CAUTION: Never direct snow discharge at people or buildings. CAUTION: Give complete and undivided attention to the job at hand. CAUTION: Extreme caution should be exercised under slippery conditions. Reduce forward speed. Install tire chains and wheel weights to traction wheels for added safety. CAUTION: Never attempt to service or make adjustments to the snow plow while the tractor is running. CAUTION: Do not allow anyone other than the operator to ride on the tractor or to be towed behind. WARNING: Contact by any part of the body with the snow plow can result in serious injury. CAUTION: Do not allow anyone to ride on top of the snow plow for weight. CAUTION: Extra care should be used around the cutting edge. This edge may become sharp and jagged during and after use. IMPORTANT: Always install new decals whenever the old decals are destroyed, lost, painted over or illegible. When individual parts are replaced that have decals attached, be sure to install a new decal with the new part. Replacement decals are available from your factory authorized Dealer. INTRODUCTION 3

See your factory authorized dealer for parts or repairs. The words Right, Left, Front, and Rear as used in this manual indicate directions when you are in the operator s seat in the normal operating position. WE SHARE YOUR DESIRE TO PROTECT YOURSELF, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR FRIENDS AND YOUR NEIGHBORS FROM ACCIDENTAL INJURY. OBSERVING AND ENFORCING THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES WILL HELP TO INSURE THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE. PREPARING FOR SNOW REMOVAL To become familiar with the controls, operate the tractor and snow plow in a clear area before removing snow. The more familiar you become with the snow plow the better the results you will have in it s use. A light coat of wax applied to the face of the snow plow will help to prevent snow and slush from sticking. This should be waxed several times during the snow removal season. Use any good commercial grade of paste wax or spray silicone which is available from your dealer or from your local hardware store. Allow ample engine warm up time before starting snow removal. CAUTION: Do not allow anyone other than the operator to ride on the tractor or to be towed behind. Best results are obtained when snow is removed as soon as possible after it falls. Check each item covered in the Adjustments and Maintenance sections of this manual before operating the snow plow. CAUTION: Before the first snowfall, the area in which snow removal is to take place should be cleared of all stones, sticks, ect., which might be picked up by the snow plow. 5 CAUTION: Never direct snow discharge at people or buildings. 1. Whenever possible, push snow down hill. 2. Do not attempt to remove ice or hard packed frozen snow by ramming into it with the blade at high speeds. 3. Always overlap each pass slightly to assure complete snow removal. 4. Use extreme care when pivoting the snow plow. Keep hands and feet out from under the cutting edge. WARNING: Contact by any part of the body with the snow plow can result in serious injury. CAUTION: Extra care should be used around the cutting edge. This will become sharp and jagged during and after use. ALWAYS: 1) Shut off tractor engine, 2) Set parking brake, and 3) Wait for all motion to stop. OPERATING CONTROLS See your tractor Operator s Manual for correct use of your controls. Attachment Lift Lever The snow plow is raised and lowered with the attachment lift lever. Angle Adjustment The angle is changed by removing the swivel lock pin, pivoting the blade to the desired position, then replacing the pin. You have five positions to choose from. This controls the direction the snow is discharged. TIRE CHAINS AND WHEEL WEIGHTS The use of tire chains and wheel weights is recommended for snow removal operation. The extra traction resulting gives the tractor operator maneuverability in handling heavy snow removal jobs. These accessories are sold by your dealer and are not included with the snow plow. CAUTION: Extreme caution should be exercised under slippery conditions. Reduce forward speed. Install tire chains and wheel weights to traction wheels for added safety. 5

6 ASSEMBLY Tractor Preparation Remove the deck and belt from the tractor and release tension on the deck lift spring. Remove the second and third bolt from the back of the mower frame rails. Note the length of these bolts and use bolts from the frame kit hardware sack that are ¼ longer in length. Use new stover nuts provided to reassemble. Hang the front down hanger on the front bolt and the rear down hanger on the rear bolt. The Rear down hanger goes on the outside of the engine guard and under the spring anchor weldment. Use the ¾ diameter clevis pin to align the holes in the bottom end of the hangers and tighten the bolts. Re-tension the deck lift spring. STOVER NUTS ENGINE GUARD REAR DOWN HANGER SPRING ANCHOR WELDMENT LONGER BOLTS FRONT DOWN HANGER DECK LIFT SPRING Push Blade Assembly Mount the swivel weldment to the blade head using the pivot pin, cotter pin and lock pin as shown. 7 ½ NUT Mounting the Snowplow Head Mount the plow head to the frame using four ½-13 x 1 ½ bolts. The frame mounting plates go on the inside of the mounting rails of the swivel weldment. Use two bolts with lock washers and flat washers on the rear holes and front holes. Secure both front bolts with a nut. Lift Rod Assembly ½ -13 x 1 ½ BOLTS ½ LOCK WASHER ½ FLAT WASHER INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL Slide the frame work under the tractor from the front and tie up the link bars to prevent rubbing on the frame. Lift the back of the frame up into alignment with the down hangers. Secure with ¾ x 2 clevis pin and hair pin retainers. pins into the holes from the inside out then install the 1/2 flat washer and rue ring. Use 3/8" bolts in lift rod ass'y for blade height adjustment. Do not adjust deck hanger rods. To remove simply reverse the process outlined here. Fasten lower lift handle in the down position. Place lift rod assembly under the middle of the frame and raise it up to the hanger rods. Insert ½ x 2 clevis ADJUSTMENTS Angle Adjustment Cutting Edge The angle is changed by removing the swivel lock pin, pivoting the blade to the desired position, then replacing the pin. You have five positions to choose from. This controls the direction the snow is discharged. The cutting edge can be reversed when the leading edge wears down. 7

8 MAINTENANCE Caution: Check the tractor and plow to make certain both are in good operating condition. Caution: Never attempt to service or make adjustments while the tractor is running. At the end of the snow season the following steps are recommended: 1. Remove the snow plow from the tractor following the procedure in this manual. 2. Wash off any salt deposit which may have dried on the auger and chute. Paint or cover exposed metal with a light coat of oil. 3. Store snow plow in a dry place. 8
