1 Pat Taylor Final Project Team Teaching Plan Lesson Plan 1 Project Title: Project Description: Features of Michigan Students will illustrate knowledge of Michigan s features by locating and labeling its man-made wonders, landforms, vegetation, waterforms and cities. Curriculum Benchmarks: #8 Gr. 3-5 Use technology resources for problem solving, self-directed learning and extended learning activities. Materials Needed: Kid Pix Map Template Directions Sheet Grading Rubric

2 Map of Michigan Computer Project DIRECTIONS: Place the following features on your Michigan map outline. 1. Make a compass rose. (include major and intermediate directions) 2. Use the map key on your map outline to stamp the features listed below. Marie G Lansing Classroom Teacher Preparation: Classroom teacher will provide instruction on location and importance of Michigan s man-made wonders, landforms, vegetations, waterforms, and major cities. Computer Lab Activity: Students will use a combination of Kid Pix stamps and drawing tools to indicate the location of Michigan s features in accordance with the map key provided. Students will use keyboarding skills to label Michigan s waterforms, and major cities. 5 Classroom Teacher Preparation: Computer Lab Activity: Classroom teacher will provide instruction on the appearance of stratus, cirrus and cumulus clouds and the type of weather associated with each cloud type. Students will access internet resources which provide illustrations of various cloud types and the type of weather associated with each cloud type. Students will use the Kidspiration 2 (graphic organizer) program to draw stratus, cirrus and cumulus clouds. Two appearance features and the weather associated with each cloud type will be linked to each cloud picture.
