3 Motivation
4 Essential Question What are the 3 phases of the water cycle? What is the process of evaporation? What is the process of condensation? What is the Process of precipitation?
5 Vocabulary Evaporation- The process of water molecules escaping the surface of the Earth and entering the atmosphere Condensation- when water vapor in the air condenses from a gas, back into a liquid form, and leaves the atmosphere, returning to the surface of the Earth. Precipitation- rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to the ground. Water Cycle- is the journey water takes as it circulates from the land to the sky and back again. Water Vapor- is the gaseous phase of water. Sun- the star around which Earth and other planets orbit. It provides heat and light to Earth.
6 Water Cycle Concepts Water Cycle- is the journey water takes as it circulates from the land to the sky and back again.
7 Water Cycle Concepts Evaporation-The process of water molecules escaping the surface of the Earth and entering the atmosphere. Water changes from a liquid to a gas or vapor. Heat(energy) is necessary for evaportion to occur.
8 Water Cycle Concepts Condensation- When water vapor in the air condenses from a gas, back into a liquid form, and leaves the atmosphere, returning to the surface of the Earth. Responsible for formation of clouds Opposite of evaporation
9 Water Cycle Concepts Precipitation- Rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to the ground. Forms differently Comes from clouds
10 Introducing the Project For this project, we will be making a poster demonstrating each group s topic of the water cycle. Students will also create a video of their Own Version of the water cycle. At the end of the week, each group will present poster and video to the class.
11 Groups for Project Each group is assigned a certain topic (Evaporation, Condensation, Precipitation), Two of tables will make one group
12 Groups for Projects Evaporation Table One Table Two Condensation Table Three Table Four Precipitation Table Five Table Six
13 Group responsibilities: Each Table will be responsible for facts about their group topic and also illustrations dealing with that topic. Each Table will need to make sure to do their best work because the group will choose and reflect which illustrations and facts will go on their group poster.
