2 How to Use these Pages First purchase a copy of our Clockwise ebook and download to your favorite device. As you read the book have these printable pages ready. Take breaks from reading to practice the new skills for that section. At the end of these pages you can build your own Classic or Lady Kit-Cat Klock. Your Kit-Cat can then be used as you are reading the Clockwise book or as a tool for matching up the time to a working clock. You can also build a sundial and use it to talk about history or even how the earth rotates. Enjoy learning to tell time with the Kit-Cat Family and thanks for letting us make you smile. 1

14 Before the clock people used to use the sun to tell time. The sundial is the tool they used. Let s see how it works! This sundial shows 5 o clock. When the sun shines on the triangle the shadow shows the time. The shadows change directions as the sun moves across the sky. Let s make one of our own! 13

15 Make your own Sundial Ask your Parents or Teacher for help with this project. 1 Find your your angle of latitude for your location. Look it up online or on a map Cut out a triangle from cardboard or wood. Make a base with a line on noon as shown. Mount the triangle on the base to line up with noon. Draw in the lines marking the shadows for the other hours. 14

18 Kit-Cat Klock Building Instructions Pick a Classic or Lady Kit-Cat to color. *Mount pieces on cardboard then cut out. *Attach the tail to the eye piece. *Use a brad paper fasteners to layer all the pieces together in the following order from the top layer.
