28 Neptune s Largest Moon: Triton Discovered in 1846 by William Lassel Financed his telescopy hobby with the money he made from his brewry Discovered 17 days after Neptune was discovered Triton (as are all of Neptune s moons) is named after minor Greek sea gods and nymphs (since Neptune is the god of the sea...duh!)
