In this May issue you will find varied reminders about new programs of study, courses, and teaching strategies. The PROCEDE association has granted funds that would allow teachers to be released to work on a DBE implementation project. The final presentation of these learning situations would culminate at the QPAT convention planned for November 23 and 24, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. All DBE course codes are considered. 2 GRaphic Or ganizer t empl at es Lucidchart is a great tool that provides template charts, diagrams, and maps. According to the Learning Disabilities Association of America, "graphic organizers can help to visualize and construct ideas, organize and/or sequence information, plan what to write, increase reading comprehension, brainstorm, organize problems and solutions, compare and contrast ideas, show cause and effect, and more. The ability to colorcode thoughts in a picture can help significantly in understanding and remembering the information". The association continues to specify that they can help people with learning disabilities "understand and remember information better when ideas, words, and concepts are associated with pictures, diagrams, charts, and maps". This software tool can easily be acquired in several ways such as from the Goolge drive apps, an add in in the Microsoft Offfice suite or downloaded from the App store for free.
