M 11.A Add, subtract, multiply and divide with radicals. Solve equations with radicals. Find and use decimal representation of real numbers. M 11.A Use the number i to simplify square roots Add, subtract, multiply and divide complex numbers.

5 Month: January (19 instructional days) Standard N: Solve linear, quadratic and exponential equations both symbolically and graphically. Standard E: Use equations to represent curves (e.g., lines, circles, ellipses, parabolas, hyperbolas.). Standard T: Analyze and categorize functions by their characteristics. Solve by completing the square. Solve by using the quadratic formula. Find the discriminant to determine nature of the roots. Solve equations in quadratic form. Graph parabolas and final vertices and axes of symmetry. Find minimum and maximum values of parabolas. Write quadratic equation about the roots or graph.

6 Month: February (18 instructional days) Standard E: Use equations to represent curves (e.g., lines, circles, ellipses, parabolas, hyperbolas.). Standard S: Analyze properties and relationships of functions (e.g., linear, polynomial, rational, trigonometric, exponential, logarithmic). Standard T: Analyze and categorize functions by their characteristics. Measurement and Estimation Standard A: Develop formulas and procedures for determining measurements (e.g., area, volume, distance). Concepts of Calculus Standard B: Interpret maximum and minimum values in problem situations. Solve involving direct variation, inverse and joint variation. M 11.A Divide polynomials. Use synthetic division to divide polynomials. Use remainder and factor theorems. Solve a polynomial equation. Find rational roots of polynomials. Approximate the real roots of a polynomial equation. Find distance and midpoint between two points. M 11.C Graph and find the equation of circles. Graph and find the equation of parabolas using focus, directrix, vertex and axis of symmetry.

Standard H: Select and use an appropriate strategy to solve systems of equation and inequalities using graphing calculator, symbol manipulators, spreadsheets and other software. Standard S: Analyze properties and relationships of functions (e.g., linear, polynomial, rational, trigonometric, exponential, logarithmic). Graph and write equations of ellipses and hyperbolas. Identify conic sections. Use graphs to determine solutions of a quadratic system. Use algebraic methods to find exact solutions of quadratic systems. Solve systems of three variables. Simplify exponents with rational numbers. Simplify exponents with irrational numbers. Find the composite of two functions and find inverses of functions. Define logarithmic functions. 8 Month: April (20 instructional days) Standard C: Use patterns, sequences and series to solve routine and non-routine problems. Standard S: Analyze properties and relationships of functions (e.g., linear, polynomial, rational, trigonometric, exponential, logarithmic). Concepts of Calculus Standard C: Graph and interpret rates of growth and decay. Standard D: Determine sums of finite sequences of numbers and infinite geometric series. Use common logs to solve equations involving powers. Solve growth and decay problems. Use natural log function. Find formulas for the nth term of arithmetic, geometric sequence. Identify series and use sigma notation. Find sum of finite arithmetic and geometric series.

9 Month: May (19 instructional days) Concepts of Calculus Standard D: Determine sums of finite sequences of numbers and infinite geometric series. Standard I: Use matrices to organize and manipulate data, including matrix addition, subtraction, multiplication and scalar multiplication. Standard G: Analyze and explain systems of equations, systems of inequalities and matrices. Statistics and Data Analysis Standard E: Analyze and display data in stem and leaf and box and whisker plots. Standard A: Design and conduct an experiment using random sampling. Describe the data as an example of a distribution using statistical measures of center and spread. Organize and represent the results with graphs. Standard C: Fit a line to the scatter plot of two quantities and describe any correlation of the variables. Find sum of infinite geometric series. Learn and apply matrix terminology. Add, subtract and multiply matrices. Solve problems using matrices. Find determinants of 2 by 2 and 3 by 3 matrices. Solve systems of equations using determinants.
