A. Basic Operations: Addition and Subtraction of Integers and efficiently ( 8) ( 1) 7. 8( 6) ( 15) ( 11) A. Basic Operations: Operations with Decimals Complete the following WITHOUT a calculator. If necessary round your answer to the nearest hundredth. You will be expected to do similar problems quickly and efficiently ( 4. )( 1. ) 4. (.)( ) A. Basic Operations: Operations with Fractions and efficiently. Leave your answer in simplest form
B. Order of Operations and efficiently (. 05) a f a f ( ) ( 410) C. Evaluating Expressions: ALL and efficiently. 1. x 5 7 when x. y 4 when y. x x when x a when a t when t y 10 when y 4 7. x 1 when x m when m 6.
D. Rates, Ratios Proportions: Calculate Unit Rates, Simplifying Ratios, and Solving Proportions and efficiently. Find the Unit Rate miles in 6 hours. $51 in 6 hours. 180 kilometers in hours revolutions in minutes Simplify Ratios to 5 6. days to 8 hours 7. 1 yard to 18 inches 8. hours:15 minutes Solving Proportions x x x 6 1. x x D. Rates, Ratios Proportions: Proportion Word Problems Complete the following WITHOUT a calculator. Please set up an EQUATION first, then solve. You will be expected to do similar problems quickly and efficiently. 1. Bill walked 15 miles in 6 hours. At the same rate, how far would he walk in 8 hours?. The taxes on a piece of property valued at $4000 were $86. At the same rate, what would be the taxes on property which was valued at $5500?. Mr. Sanchez paid $00 taxes on his lot, which was valued at $16,000. At the same rate, what is the value of Mr. Smith s lot, if he paid $ in taxes?
E. Percents: Finding a Percent of a number, Finding a Percent from a Ratio Complete the following WITHOUT a calculator. Please set up a proportion first, then solve. If need be, round to the nearest hundredth of a percent. You will be expected to do similar problems quickly and efficiently. Percent means: OUT OF % of 75. 0% of % of % of % of % of What percent is 8 of 18? 8. What percent is of 66? 9. What percent is 0 of 14? 10. What percent of 150 is 5? E. Percents: Word Problems Complete the following WITHOUT a calculator. Please set up a proportion first, then solve. You will be expected to do similar problems quickly and efficiently. 1. If the sales tax rate is 6.5%, how much tax will you pay for an item whose price is $0?. The regular price of a book is $ A store is having a 0% off sale. How much is the discount? What is the sale price?. You have a collection of 1 books. If about 40% of these books are mysteries, how many mysteries do you have in your collection?
F. Graphing Topics: Plotting Points on Cartesian Plane Plot and Label the following point on the coordinate plane. A = (-,5) B =(4, ) C = (-9, 8) D = (-1, 0) E = (, -5) F = (-4, -4) G = (5, -) H = (0, -) I = (-10, -) J = (7, -4) K = (8, 0) L = (11, -6) F. Graphing Topics: Creating a Table of Values from an Equation Create a table of values (input/output) for the following equations: 1. y x7 X Y. x y 8 X Y. y x 9 x X Y
G. Geometry Topics: Memorize Formulas You will be expected to KNOW the following formulas. Circle: Area = r Circumference = d Rectangle: Area = l w Perimeter = l w Volume = l w h Triangle: Area = 1 hb G. Geometry Topics: Use Formulas Correctly Please leave all answers in terms of. (Meaning, DO NOT substitute a value in for pi) 1. Find the area of a circle whose diameter is 8.. Find the area of a rectangle whose length and width are 0cm and 0cm respectively.. Find the area of a triangle whose base is 15 and height is Find an expression for the perimeter of the polygon below. 5. What is the circumference of a circle whose radius is 14?
H: Logic Skills: Answer the following questions. Justify your answer with either organized math work, or written explanation. Logic skills can be strengthened through puzzles like Suduko, Kakuro, or Picross- all can be found online. 1. Place the numbers 1,,, 4, 5, and 6 in the circles below. Only one number may be placed in a circle and all of the numbers must be used. When completed, the sum of each side s three numbers must all be the same number.. Suppose you need to measure exactly 1 cup of water. All that you have in your kitchen are two containers. The smaller container holds cups and the larger holds 5 cups. How can you use these two containers to measure exactly 1 cup of water? (There are no markings on the sides to show you where 1 cup is). While you are raiding your refrigerator, you look behind the stove and discover a slice of bread that you misplaced several weeks ago. Needless to say, it is covered with mold. Since the mold started growing, the area it has covered has doubled each day. By the end of the eighth day, the entire surface of the bread is covered. When was he bread half-covered with mold? 4. Three boxes are all labeled incorrectly, and you must get the labels right. The labels on the boxes read as follows: [box 1] nails [box ] screws [box ] nails and screws To gain the information you need to move the labels to the correct boxes, you may remove a single item from one of the boxes. You may not look into the boxes, nor pick them up and shake them, etc. Can this be done? If so, how? If not, why not? 5. What shape(s) must be added to balance the fourth scale?
