D. Ivashchuk and V. N. Melnikov Center for Gravitation and Fundamental Metrology, VNIIMS, 3-1 M. Ulyanovoy St., Moscow, , Russia ABSTRACT A string-like model with the cosmological constant Λ is considered. The Maki-Shiraishi multi-black-hole solution[2] is generalized to space-times with a Ricci-flat internal space. For Λ = 0 the obtained solution in the one-black-hole case is shown to coincide with the extreme limit of the charged dilatonic black hole solution [11, 12]. The Hawking temperature T H for the solution [11, 12] is presented and its extreme limit is considered. For the string value of dilatonic coupling the temperature T H does not depend upon the internal space dimension. 2 1 Introduction In this paper we consider the model described by the action S = d D x g { 1 [ R[g] 2Λexp( 2λϕ) M ϕ 2κ 2 N ϕg MN] 1 4 exp(2λϕ)f MNF MN }, (1.1) where g = g MN dx M dx N is the metric, F = 1F 2 MNdx M dx N = da is the strength of the electromagnetic field and ϕ is the scalar field (dilatonic field). Here λ is the dilatonic coupling constant and D is space-time dimension (in notations of [2] a = λ D 2). For λ 2 = 1, D = 10, Λ = 0 (1.2) 8 theaction(1.1)describes apartofthebosonicsectorforthen = 1ten-dimensional Einstein- Yang-Mills supergravity that occurs in the low energy limit of superstring theory [1]. Moreover, λ 2 = λ 2 s 1 (1.3) D 2 corresponds to the tree-level string effective action in D dimensions. The non-zero cosmological term Λ occurs for non-critical string theories (in this case Λ is proportional to the central charge deficit). Another case of interest is λ 2 = λ 2 0 D 1 D 2, (1.4) which corresponds to the D-dimensional theory obtained by dimensionally reducing the (D + 1)-dimensional Kaluza-Klein theory. In that case the scalar field ϕ is associated with the size of (D+1)-th dimension. 2 Exact solutions The field equations corresponding to the action (1.1) have the following form and where R MN 1 2 g MNR = κ 2 T MN Λexp( 2λϕ)g MN, (2.1) M ( M ϕ) 1 2 λκ2 exp(2λϕ)f MN F MN +2λΛexp( 2λϕ) = 0, (2.2) M (exp(2λϕ)f MN ) = 0, (2.3) Let us consider the manifold T MN = κ 2 ( M ϕ N ϕ 1 2 g MN P ϕ P ϕ) +exp(2λϕ)(f MP F N P 1 4 g MNF PQ F PQ ). (2.4) M = M (2+d) M int, (2.5) 1
where M (2+d) isthe (2+d)-dimensional (space-time) manifoldandm int isan internal space equipped by the Ricci-flat metric g int. Our solution to the field equations is defined on the manifold (2.5) and has the following form where C 0 is constant, and g = U (3 D)2/A dt dt+u 2/A[ 1+d ] dx a dx a +g int, (2.6) a=1 exp(2λϕ) = C 2 U 2αt, (2.7) A = A M dx M = νdt κcu, (2.8) A = A(λ,D) = D 3+λ 2 (D 2), (2.9) α t = λ 2 (D 2)/A(λ,D), (2.10) ν 2 = (D 2)/A(λ,D), (2.11) U = U(t, x) = ht+φ( x), (2.12) Φ = δ ab a b Φ = 0, (2.13) h 2(D 2) [ 2(D 2) A(λ, D) A(λ,D) 1] = 2Λ. (2.14) Here x = (x a ), a,b = 1,...,1+d. It may be verified by a straightforward calculation that the equations of motions (2.1)-(2.3) for the considered solution are satisfied identically [16]. The solution (2.6)-(2.14) generalizes the Maki-Shiraishi solution [2] (see also [7] for λ 2 = 1/2 and [8] for Λ = 0) to the case of a Ricci-flat internal space. Here we use the parametrization similar to that of [6] (D = 4). For D = d+2 our notations are related with those from [2] by the following manner: A/h = a 2 t 0, (ht) a2 /A = t MS /t 0. From (2.14) we get λ 2 < λ 2 0 D 1 D 2, h 0 (2.15) for Λ > 0, λ 2 > λ 2 0, h 0 (2.16) for Λ < 0, and λ 2 = λ 2 0, h is arbitrary, (2.17) or λ is arbitrary, h = 0 (2.18) for Λ = 0. Special cases of the above solutions with Λ > 0 were also considered by Kastor and Traschen [5] (D = 4, d = 2, λ = 0) and Horne and Horowitz [6] (D = 4, λ 2 = 1/2). The solution [5] generalizes the well-known Majumdar-Papapetrou solution [9]. For Λ 0 and Φ = 1+ m i=1 2 B i x x i d 1 (2.19)
the relations (2.6)-(2.8) describe a collection of m multidimensional extremal (charged) dilatonic black holes (with masses proportional to B i ) living in asymptotically de Sitter or anti-desitter spaces. Indeed, as will be shown below, for Λ = 0 and m = 1 in (2.19) we get an 0(d + 1)-symmetric extremal black hole solution with a Ricci-flat internal space [11, 12]. It should be also noted that the global properties of static spherically symmetric solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton system in the presence of an arbitrary exponential dilaton potential were derived in [10]. 3 Extremal and non-extremal charged dilatonic black holes for Λ = 0. Let us consider the case Λ = h = 0. Here we show that the solution (2.6)-(2.14) with Φ from (2.19) and m = 1 is an extremal limit for the multidimensional charged dilatonic black hole solution [11, 12] (see also [15]). 3.1 Non-extremal multidimensional charged dilatonic black hole The solution [11] with one internal Ricci-flat space reads Here g = f + f 1+2αt dt dt+f [ dr dr ] 2αr +r 2 dω 2 2/A d +f g int, (3.1) f + f A = ( Q C(d 1) r1 d +c ) dt, (3.2) exp(2λϕ) = C 2 f 2αt. (3.3) f ± = f ± (r) = 1 B ± rd 1, (3.4) α r = 1 d 1 1 A(λ,D), (3.5) g int is Ricci-flat internal space metric, dω 2 d is canonical metric on Sd ( spherical angle ), parameters A = A(λ,D) and α t are defined in (2.9) and (2.10) respectively, c and C 0 are constants and the parameters satisfy the relation B + > B > 0, Q 0 (3.6) B + B = κ2 Q 2 A(λ,D) (d 1) 2 (D 2). (3.7) (Here we have slightly generalized [11] by introducing the constant C 0.) The (2 + d)-dimensional section of the metric (3.1) has a horizon at r d 1 = B +. For r d 1 = B < B + a horizon is absent since α t α r < 0. (3.8) 3
We note that α t 0, α r 0 and α r = 0 (λ = 0, D = d + 2). The horizon at r d 1 = B < B + takes place only for λ = 0 and D = d+2. In this case the internal space is absent and we are led to the Myers-Perry O(d+1)-symmetric charged black hole solution [13]. The considered solution generalizes the solutions from [3, 4] with D = 2+d. The mass of the black hole is defined by the relation [11] where 2GM = B + +B β, (3.9) β = 1+2α t = D 3 λ2 (D 2) D 3+λ 2 (D 2) (3.10) and G = S D κ 2 is the effective gravitational constant (S D is defined in [13]). Hawking temperature. A standard calculation based on the absence of conic singularity as r d 1 B + in the Euclidean- rotated metric (3.1) (t = iτ, 0 τ TH 1 ) gives us the following relation for the Hawking temperature where r + = (B + ) 1/(d 1) and T H = (d 1) 4πr + ( 1 B B + ) α, (3.11) α = 1+α t α r < 1. (3.12) For the string case (1.3) α = α s = (d 2)/(d 1) 0. From (3.12) we get the inequality T H > T MP = (d 1) 4πr + ( 1 B B + ) (3.13) where T MP is the Hawking temperature for the Myers-Perry charged black hole [13] (λ = 0, D = d+2). For D = 4 (d = 2) relation (3.11) agrees with the corresponding relation from [14]. 3.2 Extremal charged black hole Now we consider the solution (3.1)-(3.5), (3.6) for B + = B = κ Q A(λ, D) (d 1) (D 2) = B. (3.14) In this case the mass (3.9) is minimal [11] M c = κ Q (D 3) G(d 1) A(λ,D)(D 2) (3.15) and the relations (3.1)-(3.5) describe an extremal charged dilatonic black hole. Introducing a new radial variable R by the relation r d 1 B = R d 1 (3.16) 4
and denoting U = 1+ B R d 1 = f ± (3.17) we get a special case of the solution from Sec. 2 with Λ = h = 0 and m = 1 in (2.19) (R = x x 1, B = B 1 ). Here we put c = Q/(B(d 1)) in (3.2). In the extremal case a horizon for r d 1 = B takes place if (and only if) α = α(λ,d,d) 0 (3.18) (see (3.12)). This is equivalent to the following restriction on the dilatonic coupling parameter λ 2 1 d 2+ (D 2) λ2 c. (3.19) The relation (3.19) is satisfied for the string case (1.3). For d = 2 we have λ 2 c = λ2 s. For λ 2 = λ 2 c we get α = 0 and T H = T c d 1 4πr +. (3.20) Due to relation (3.11) the Hawking temperature has the following limit as B B +, i.e. in the extreme black hole limit T H 0, for λ 2 < λ 2 c, (3.21) T c, for λ 2 = λ 2 c. (3.22) For λ 2 > λ 2 c we get T H + as B B +. In this case the horizon at r d 1 = B = B + is absent. Remark. It may be shown that the metric (3.1) is singular as r r = B 1/(d 1) for all B + B > 0, λ and D > d+2 [16]. For λ = 0 and D = d+2 (i.e. in the Myers-Perry case [13]) the singularity is absent. 4 Special cases 4.1 Infinite-dimensional case Here we consider the interesting special case, when N int = dimm int + (or D + and d is fixed). In this limit the metric (2.6) reads g = U 2/(1+λ2) dt dt+ 1+d and the relations (2.10), (2.11) and (2.14) take the following form a=1 dx a dx a +g int, (4.1) α t = λ 2 /(1+λ 2 ), ν 2 = 1/(1+λ 2 ), (4.2) h 2 1 λ 2 = 2Λ. (1+λ 2 ) 2 (4.3) 5
Thus, the spatial section of the metric (4.1) is flat. For string (1.3), Kaluza-Klein (1.4) and critical (3.19) values of the coupling constants we have respectively λ 2 s = 0, λ2 0 = 1, λ2 c = d 2. (4.4) For the parameter α in (3.12) we have 4.2 Stringy case α = 1 1+λ 2 1 d 1. (4.5) For λ 2 = λ 2 s = (D 2) 1 we obtain instead of (4.1)-(4.3) the following relations g = U (3 D)2/(D 2) dt dt+u 2/(D 2)[ 1+d ] dx a dx a +g int, (4.6) a=1 α t = (D 2) 1, ν 2 = 1, (4.7) h 2 = 2Λ. (4.8) For the Hawking temperature (3.11) we get in the considered case T H = T H,s = (d 1) 4πr + ( 1 B B + )d 2 d 1. (4.9) Thus, in the string case (1.3) the Hawking temperature (4.9) does not depend upon the total dimension D (or equivalently upon the internal space dimension N int ). Moreover, it does not depend upon the Ricci-flat internal space (M int,g int ). For example, one may consider for D = 10 different internal Calabi-Yau spaces [1] with the same result for T H. For d = 2 (4.9) coincides with the corresponding formula for the Schwarzschild black hole. Acknowledgments The authors are grateful to K.A. Bronnikov and M.L. Fil chenkov, for useful discussions.
