After presenting L m L r estimates with 1 m r of solutions to the corresponding linearized problem with vanishing right-hand side we prove the existence of global in time solutions to the weakly coupled systems where the initial data are supposed to belong to different L r spaces with different additional L m regularities. Keywords: Weakly coupled system viscoelastic wave equation global in time solution Cauchy problem. 1. Introduction In this paper we consider the Cauchy problem for the following weakly coupled systems of semilinear hyperbolic equations with different power source nonlinear terms in R n n 1: u tt u+g u+u t = t l v p x R n t R + v tt v +g v +v t = tu l q x R n t R uu t ;vv t x = u u 1 ;v v 1 x x R n with l = 1 and pq > 1 where denotes the convolution with respect to t that is g utx := gt τuτxdτ. The systems1.1 describes the motion of the viscoelastic materials and u v correspond to the displacements of the different materials. The terms g u and g v represent the stress at an instant depends on the whole history of the strains and material has suffered. Here the relaxation function g = gt satisfies the following assumptions which are introduced by [1 6]: G1 gt > C gt g t C 1 gt g t C gt for any t R + G 1 gτdτ C 3 for any t R + Corresponding author addresses: liuyan99134@tom.com Yan Liu Wenhui.Chen@student.tu-freiberg.de Wenhui Chen Preprint submitted to Elsevier Septembe1 18
where C C 1 C C 3 are positive constants. There are many mathematical results related to the viscoelastic body we address. Let us begin with the linearized problem of viscoelastic wave equation { utt u+g u+u t = x R n t R + uu t x = u u 1 x x R n 1. where the relaxation function g = gt satisfies the assumptions G1-G. The linear model 1. has been considered recently in [1] and by using the energy method in the Fourier space the authors obtained decay estimates for energy of higher order of the form u t t Ḣs + x ut Ḣs 1+t n 4 1 s u H s+1 L 1 +1+t n 4 s u1 H s L 1 provided that the initial data belong to the function space H s+1 L 1 H s L 1 with s. Recently the previous paper [6] derived faster decay estimates than those given in [1] by taking the initial data in weighted L 1 spaces. We now introduce some papers studying nonlinear viscoelastic wave equation. A viscoelastic Cauchy problem subjected to a nonlinear source term of the form { utt u+g u+u t = u p 1 u x R n t R + uu t x = u u 1 x x R n 1.3 is investigated by [15]. The memory term in the equation involves a kernel which is not regular as is usually the case. The paper [15] proved that solutions go to zero in a polynomial manner as time goes to infinity. Recently [14] considered the Cauchy problem 1.3 and shown that if initial energy is negative and gτdτ < p p 1 and R n u xu 1 xdx then the solution blows up in finite time. The paper [6] proved a global in time solution result for a viscoelastic wave equation 1. with absorbing nonlinearity { utt u+g u+u t = u p 1 u x R n t R + uu t x = u u 1 x x R n 1.4. By using the weighted energy method they analyzed the asymptotic behavior of the semilinear problem 1.4. More general results to the Cauchy problem for a quasi-linear second order hyperbolic systems of viscoelasticity with linear dissipation can be found in [11 1]. They considered some qualitative properties of solutions in particular sharp decay estimates and a large-time behavior of solutions. Due to the present of memory term in the model we will observe the weaker decay property for the linear model 1. comparing with the classical damped wave equation see Theorem 3.1. The memorytype dissipation was also studied for other interesting models. We refer to [ ] for a nonlinear Timoshenko system of memory type [16] for a semilinear plate equation with memory-type dissipation and [] for weakly coupled systems of semilinear Klein-Gordon equations with memory-type dissipation. If the relaxation function g = gt is vanish and taking l = in 1.1 then the model can be reduced to weakly coupled systems of classical damped wave equations u tt u+u t = v p x R n t R + v tt v +v t = u q x R n t R uu t ;vv t x = u u 1 ;v v 1 x x R n. Let us recall some global existence and nonexistence results for the corresponding single semilinear equation and weakly coupled systems 1.5. For the single semilinear classical damped wave equation with nonlinear term u p on the right-hand side the Fujita exponent p Fuj n := 1+ n 1.6
is the critical exponent. We refer to the pioneering papers [ ] and references therein which mainly proved the global in time solution uniquely exists when p > p Fuj n and the solution blows up in finite time when 1 < p p Fuj n. Furthermore the critical exponent for weakly coupled systems 1.5 is described by the following condition: { p+1 α max := max pq 1 q +1 } = n pq It means that if the parameter satisfies α max n then the global solution blows up in finite time and if the parameterα max < n then the solution exists globally in time. The authorsof [8] investigated the condition of critical exponent 1.7 for n = 13. In [] the author generalized the global existence result to dimensions n = 13 and improved the time decay estimates when n = 3. After that the asymptotic behavior of global solutions has been derived in the low dimensions n = 13 in [3]. Then the global existence and blow-up results for any dimensions n was determined in [4] where the proof of global existence of solutions is based on a weighted energy method. In this paper we first extend the energy estimates result in [1] and [6] to L m L r estimates not necessary on the conjugate line for solutions to 1. by using modified Bessel functions and the Riesz potential mapping properties. Basing on these derived estimates of solutions to linearized problem 1. we develop the existence of global in time solutions to 1.1 where the initial data belong to different L r spaces with different additional L m regularities fo m r. Our proofs of global existence results are based on some tools in Harmonic Analysis see [9 9] and contracting mapping theorem. The scheme of the paper is the following. In Section we present our results concerning the global existence of small data solutions to 1.1 Theorems In Section 3 we prepare L m L r estimates for solutions to 1. with 1 m r that we will use to prove the results for the semilinear problem Theorem 3.1. Section 4 contains the proofs of Theorems In Section 5 some concluding remarks complete the paper. In particular we show which benefits may come by assuming higher regularity for the initial data. For the easy of reading throughout this paper we will use the following notation. Notation 1. We write f g when there exists a constant C > such that f Cg. Notation. H s r and Ḣs r denote Bessel and Riesz potential spaces based on Lr space. Here D s and D s stand for the pseudo-differential operators with symbol ξ s and ξ s respectively. Notation 3. We denote introduce for any 1 m r the function space A rm := H 1 r Lm L r L m with the norm u u 1 Arm := u H 1 r + u L m + u 1 L r + u 1 L m. Notation 4. As introduced in the introduction the Fujita exponent p Fuj n and the parameter α max are defined by 1.6 and 1.7 respectively. Notation 5. We denote the special range of rm by { Ω n := rm : 1 m rn r+n and n } n 1 < r < n 1.. Main results Before stating our results we introduce for our further approach balanced exponents for j = 1 p bal n := n+ n 1 n ˆp bal n := n+ n 1 n + 1 if r j m j Ω n.1 if r j m j [1 \Ω n. 3
and the following balanced parameters: if r j m j Ω n for j = 1: α bal n q := +3+n 1 and if r j m j [1 \Ω n for j = 1: q +1+n 1 pq pq 1.3 ˆα bal n q := 4 +3n+ 8+ n +n 1 q + 4 n n pq..4 pq 1 Let us recall some global existence results for balanced exponents and balanced parameters from the papers [3] and [5]. We notice that the balanced exponents p bal 3mm ˆp bal 3mm and the balanced parameters α bal 3mq ˆα bal 3mmq correspond to the balanced parameters in weakly coupled systems of semilinear viscoelastic damped elastic waves cf. [3]. Moreover the balanced exponents p bal n11 corresponds to that in the single semilinear viscoelastic damped wave equation cf. [5]. Theore.1. Let r j m j Ω n for j = 1 and n 1. Let us assume pq > 1 satisfying p q and p n n if n > and q n n if n >. Moreover we assume the exponents p q satisfy one of the following conditions: i there are not other condition when p > p bal n and q > p bal n ; ii α bal n q < n when p p baln and q > p bal n ; iii α bal n p < n when p > p baln and q p bal n. Then there exists a constant ε > such that for all u u 1 ;v v 1 A r1 A r with u u 1 Ar1 + v v 1 Ar ε there is a uniquely determined energy solution uv C[ H 1 C 1 [ L r1 C[ H 1 C 1 [ L r to 1.1 with l =. Furthermore the solution u v satisfies the following estimates: where ut L 1+t n 1 n +γ1 u u 1 Ar1 + v v 1 Ar x ut L + u t t L 1+t n 1 +γ 1 u u 1 Ar1 + v v 1 Ar vt L 1+t n 1 n +γ u u 1 Ar1 + v v 1 Ar x vt L + v t t L 1+t n 1 +γ u u 1 Ar1 + v v 1 Ar < γ 1 := < γ := 1 n + 1 p bal n p if p < p bal n ǫ 1 if p = p bal n 1 n + 1 p bal n q if q < p bal n ǫ 1 if q = p bal n represent the loss of decay in comparison with the corresponding decay estimates for the solution u or v to the linear Cauchy problem with vanishing right-hand side cf. Theorem 3.1 ǫ 1 > being an arbitrary small constant in the limit case p = p bal n or q = p bal n. 4
Remark.1. We notice that the sub-cases ii and iii in the theorem imply that at least one parameter in loss of decay among γ 1 and γ is zero. Remark.. To consider weakly coupled systems 1.1 in the large dimension n = n we can choose the initial data in the function space with parameters r satisfying = = n ǫ. Here ǫ is a sufficient small positive constant. Moreover if we assume = = n ǫ then we can prove the existence of global in time solution uniquely exists when the exponents p q satisfy for example uv C[ H 1 n ǫ C 1 [ L n ǫ 4 6ǫ n +ǫ < min{pq} max{pq} n ǫ. Remark.3. If we assume the parameters that min{ } > n then there exist no upper bound for the exponents p and q. This particular case remains still true for Theore.. Remark.4. Let us consider weakly coupled systems 1.1 with the initial data in the function spaces with different regularities i.e. and we can observe a low bound for p can be smaller or larger than one of q. This effect does not appear in the previous cases when = and =. Example.1. We consider weakly coupled systems 1.1 in R 5. Providing that the initial data belong to the function spaces A A then the global in time solution uniquely exists uv C[ H C1 [ L 4.5 C[ H C1 [ L when the exponents p and q satisfy one of the following conditions: we assume < p 1 and 13 < q for example p = 4 and q = ; we assume < p 1 and 11 5 q with the condition p 6767pq < for example p = 8 q = 4. We observe from Theorem 3.1 when rm Ω n the estimate of solution itself to the linear Cauchy problem 1. is different to those in the case rm [1 \Ω n. For this reason we feel differences in estimating the norms vτ p L r and vτ p L m resp. uτ q. Theore.. Let r j m j [ \Ω n and 1 n 1 m j r j for j = 1 and n 1. Let us assume pq > 1 satisfying p and p n n if n > q and q n n if n >. Moreover we assume the exponents p q satisfy one of the following conditions: i there are not other condition when p > ˆp bal n and q > ˆp bal n ; ii we assume ˆα bal n q < n when p ˆp baln and q > ˆp bal n ; iii we assume ˆα bal n p < n when p > ˆp baln and q ˆp bal n. Then there exists a constant ε > such that for all u u 1 ;v v 1 A r1 A r with u u 1 Ar1 + v v 1 Ar ε there is a uniquely determined Sobolev solution uv C[ H 1 C 1 [ L r1 C[ H 1 C 1 [ L r 5
to 1.1 with l =. Furthermore the solution u v satisfies the following estimates: where ut L 1+t 1 n 1 +ˆγ 1 u u 1 Ar1 + v v 1 Ar x ut L + u t t L 1+t n 1 +ˆγ 1 u u 1 Ar1 + v v 1 Ar vt L 1+t 1 n 1 +ˆγ u u 1 Ar1 + v v 1 Ar x vt L + v t t L 1+t n 1 +ˆγ u u 1 Ar1 + v v 1 Ar < ˆγ 1 := < ˆγ := 1 n + ˆp bal n p if p < ˆp bal n ǫ 1 if p = ˆp bal n 1 n + ˆp bal n q if q < ˆp bal n ǫ 1 if q = ˆp bal n with ǫ 1 > being an arbitrary small constant in the limit case that p = ˆp bal n or q = ˆp bal n. Remark.5. We consider the single semilinear viscoelastic wave equation { utt u+g u+u t = u p x R n t R + uu t x = u u 1 x x R n with small data u u 1 A rm. The global in time solution exists uniquely u C[ H 1 r C 1 [ L r when the exponent p satisfies the following conditions: and p > ˆpnrrmm = r m p and p n n r if n > r pnrrmm = n+m n m if rm Ω n rn+m nr mr+nm if rm [1 \Ω n. Remark.6. In the case 1 n 1 m j r j < for j = 1 or j = we observe the solution itself to the linear problem 1. is bounded. One can follow the proof of Theore. to prove the global in time existence of small data solution to 1.1 in these cases. Example.. We consider weakly coupled systems 1.1 in R 5 again. Providing that the initial data belong to the function spaces A A 5.53 then the global in time solution uniquely exists.5 when the exponents p and q satisfy one of the following conditions: we assume < p 1 and < q for example p = 5 and q = 8; we assume < p 1 and 11 6 q with the condition p 94pq < for example p = 8 q = 4. Let us turn to weakly coupled systems 1.1 with l = 1. Theore.3. Let us assume pq > 1 satisfying one of the following conditions: 6
i there are not other restriction when min{pq} > p Fuj n; ii α max < n when min{pq} p Fujn < max{pq}. Then there exists a constant ε > such that for all u u 1 ;v v 1 A 1 A 1 with u u 1 A 1 + v v 1 A 1 ε there is a uniquely determined Sobolev solution uv C[ H 1 1 H 1 C 1 [ L 1 L to 1.1 with l = 1. Furthermore the solution u v satisfies the following estimates: where ut L 1 1+t 1+ γ1 u u 1 A 1 + v v 1 A 1 ut L 1+t max{1 n}+ γ1 u u 1 A 1 + v v 1 A 1 u t t L 1 + ut L 1 1+t γ1 u u 1 A 1 + v v 1 A 1 u t t L + ut L 1+t n+ γ1 u u 1 A 1 + v v 1 A 1 vt L 1 1+t 1+ γ u u 1 A 1 + v v 1 A 1 vt L 1+t }+ γ max{1 n u u 1 A 1 + v v 1 A 1 v t t L 1 + vt L 1 1+t γ u u 1 A 1 + v v 1 A 1 v t t L + vt L 1+t n+ γ u u 1 A 1 + v v 1 A 1 < γ 1 := p Fujn p if p < p Fuj n if p = p Fuj n ǫ 1 < γ := p Fujn q if q < p Fuj n ǫ 1 if q = p Fuj n represent the loss of decay in comparison with the corresponding decay estimates for the solution u or v to the linear Cauchy problem with vanishing right-hand side cf. Theorem 3.1 ǫ 1 > being an arbitrary small constant in the limit case p = p Fuj n or q = p Fuj n. Remark.7. We should point out that Theore.3 holds in any space dimension n 1. Remark.8. We consider the single semilinear viscoelastic wave equation { utt u+g u+u t = u t p x R n t R + uu t x = u u 1 x x R n with small data u u 1 A 1. The global in time solution exists uniquely u C[ H 1 1 H1 C1 [ L 1 L when the exponent p satisfies the condition p > p Fuj n. 3. L m L r estimates not necessary on the conjugate line In this section we prepare L m L r estimates with 1 m r for solutions to the homogeneous linear viscoelastic wave equation 1.. These estimates play an essential role to prove the existence of global in time solutions to 1.1 in next section. To begin with the partial Fourier transform to 1. leads to {ûtt + ξ û ξ g û+û t = ξ R n t R + ûû t ξ = û û 1 ξ ξ R n. Before stating our main results we recall the pointwise estimates of image of solutions in the Fourier space. One can see the following result in the papers [1] or [6]. 7
Proposition 3.1. Pointwise estimates [1] The Fourier image û = ûtξ of the solutions u = utx to the Cauchy problem 1. satisfies the following estimates in the Fourier space: where ρ ξ = ξ 1+ ξ and c is a positive constant. û t + ξ û e cρ ξ t ξ û + û The following lemma plays an important role in L m L r estimates not necessary on the conjugate line. One can find the proof of this lemma in [4] and their proof is based on modified Bessel functions for the inverse Fourier transform homogeneous behavior of the phase function and scaling argument. Lemma 3.1. Let us introduce the cut-off function χξ = 1 in the region {ξ R n : ξ 1} and χξ = in the region {ξ R n : ξ > 1}. Let us consider Kt x h := F 1 f ξ e g ξ t ĥξ where the functions f = fρ and g = gρ satisfy the following conditions: f k ρ ρ l k g k ρ ρ k gρ b ρ s gρ b 1 ρ s for some b b 1 > and l > 1 s > real-valued for any ρ 1] and k [n+3/] the integer part of n+3/. Then the following estimate holds for any 1 m r if l > : χdkt x h L r 1+t n s 1 m 1 r l s χdh L m. Lemma 3.. The following estimates hold in R n for any dimension n 1: χdfξ x 1 e c ξ t x f L r 1+t n 1 m r χdf L m 3. where 1 m r and χdf 1 ξ x ξ 1 e c ξ t x f L r 1+t n 1 m 1 r n χdf L m 3.3 where rm Ω n. Proof. The estimate 3. can be proved immediately by applying Lemma 3.1. To derive the estimate 3.3 we use Riesz potential mapping properties to get χdf 1 ξ x ξ 1 e c ξ t x f L r χdf 1 ξ x e c ξ t x f L r where 1 r r = 1 n with r 1n. It immediately follows r n n 1. Then the application of 3. implies the estimate χdf 1 ξ x e c ξ t x f L r 1+t n 1 m r χdf L m where 1 m r. Lastly according to the relation r = rn r+n the proof is complete. Theorem 3.1. Let 1 m r. Then the Sobolev solutions to 1. satisfy the L r L m L r estimates for the solution itself { 1+t n 1 m r n u u 1 L r L m L r L m if rm Ω n ut L r and for the derivatives of the solution 1+t max{1 n 1 m 1 r } u u 1 L r L m L r L m if rm / Ω n u t t L r + x ut L r 1+t n 1 m 1 r u u 1 H 1 r L m L r L m. 8
Proof. Let us prove the estimates to the derivatives of the solution first. From pointwise estimates in Proposition 3.1 we obtain the following estimates by Lemma 3.: Fξ x 1 χξ ξ e c ξ t x u L r 1+t n 1 m r 1 u L m F 1 ξ x χξe c ξ t x u L 1 r 1+t n 1 m r u 1 L m Fξ x 1 1 χξe ct x D u L r e ct u H 1 r F 1 ξ x 1 χξe ct x u L 1 r e ct u 1 L r. Thus combining of above estimates we have u t t L r + x ut L r 1+t n 1 m 1 r u u 1 Lm L m +e ct u u 1 H 1 r L r. In order to derive the estimates to the solution itself we need to distinguish between two cases by the value of parameters r and m. For one thing if the parameters of regularities rm satisfy rm Ω n we apply Lemma 3. again to estimate Fξ x 1 χξ ξ 1 e c ξ t x u L 1 r 1+t n 1 m r n u 1 L m. It leads to ut L r 1+t n 1 m 1 r n u u 1 Lm L m +e ct u u 1 Lr L r. For another if the parameters of regularities rm satisfy rm / Ω n we use the integral formula to have utx = u τ τxdτ +u x ut L r 1+t 1 n 1 m 1 r u u 1 L m L m + u L r +e ct u u 1 L r L r. Hence the proof is completed. Remark 3.1. In fact we could obtain better estimate for the solution itself by considering the right-hand side d 1 t u Lr L m +d t u 1 Lr L m with time-dependent functions d 1t and d t. Nevertheless our goal is to derive the estimates with right-hand side dt u u 1 L r L m L r L m where dt := max{d 1 td t}. If one is interested in the estimates with the initial data only basing on the L m space then we can state our result by using some embedding theorem. Corollary 3.1. Let 1 < m r < and ǫ >. Then the Sobolev solutions to 1. satisfy the L m L r estimates for the solution itself 1+t n 1 m r n u u 1 n H 1 r +ǫ m H n if rm Ω r +ǫ n m ut L r 1+t max{1 n 1 m 1 r } u u 1 n 1 H m 1 r +ǫ m H n if rm / Ω 1 r +ǫ n m and for the derivatives of the solution u t t L r + x ut L r 1+t n 1 m 1 r u u 1 H n 1 m 1 r +1+ǫ m Proof. According to the following chain embedding H n 1 m 1 r +ǫ m R n W n 1 m 1 r m R n L r R n H n. +ǫ m for small constant ǫ > and 1 < m r < we only modified the estimates for large frequencies to complete the proof. Here W s mr n denote Sobolev-Slobodeckij spaces. Corollary 3.. Let 1 m r and s. Then the Sobolev solutions to 1. satisfy the following H s r Lm Ḣs r estimates: u t t Ḣs r + x ut Ḣs r 1+t n 1 m r s u u 1 H s+1 r L m H s r Lm. Proof. Similar as the proof of Theorem 3. the above estimate can be proved by using Lemma
4. Proof of the global existence results 4.1. Philosophy of our approach In this section we explain the philosophy of our approach to prove global existence of small data solution to weakly coupled systems 1.1 with l = or l = 1. We denote by E tτx and E 1 tτx the fundamental solutions to { utt u+g u+u t = x R n t > τ uu t τx = u u 1 x x R n 4.1. In other words E tτx and E 1 tτx represent the distributional solutions to 4.1 with the initial data u u 1 = δ and u u 1 = δ respectively. Therefore the solution to 4.1 is given by Let us introduce the operator N such that utx = E tτx x u x+e 1 tτx x u 1 x. N : uv Nuv := u ln +u nl v ln +v nl where u ln v ln = u ln txv ln tx is the solution to the corresponding linear homogeneous systems with the initial data u u 1 ;v v 1 that is u ln tx := E tτx x u x+e 1 tτx x u 1 x v ln tx := E tτx x v x+e 1 tτx x v 1 x and u nl = u nl tx v nl = v nl tx can be represented as follows: u nl tx := v nl tx := E 1 tτx x l t vτx p dτ with l = 1 E 1 tτx x l t uτx q dτ with l = 1. Let{XT} T> thesolutionspace whichwill bedeterminedlater. Toprovetheglobalin timeexistence of small data Sobolev solutions to 1.1 we should prove the following inequalities: Nuv XT u u 1 Ar1 + v v 1 Ar + uv s XT 4. Nuv Nū v XT uv ū v XT uv s 1 XT + ū v s 1 XT 4.3 uniformly with respect to T. After proving these both inequalities we apply Banach s fixed point theorem. In this way we get the local in time existence of large data Sobolev solutions and the global in time existence of small data Sobolev solutions as well. The estimates of solutions to the linear problem 1. from Theorem 3.1 yield s=pq s=pq u ln v ln XT u u 1 Ar1 + v v 1 Ar. So we complete the proof of all results separately by showing the inequality u nl v nl XT uv p XT + uv q XT
4.. Proof of Theore.1 Let us define the solution space by XT := C[T]H 1 C 1 [T]L r1 C[T]H 1 C 1 [T]L r 4.5 with the corresponding norm uv XT := sup 1+t γ 1 M 1 tu+1+t γ M tv 4.6 t [T] where γ 1 γ to be determined later and M 1 tu : = 1+t n 1 n ut L +1+t n 1 x ut L + u t t L M tv : = 1+t n 1 n vt L +1+t n 1 x vt L + v t t L. Here γ 1 and γ represent possible losses of decay for uv in comparison with the corresponding decay estimates for u ln v ln. In the first place we apply the classical Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality to get vτ p L vτ 1 θ1p L vτ θ1p Ḣ 1 uτ q L uτ 1 θq L uτ θq Ḣ where θ 1 = n 1 m [1] and θ 1p = n 1 m [1] for q 1 [1q 1 ] and [1q ]. These condition lead to the restrictions for the exponents p and q that is n p and p if n > n n q and q if n >. n From the definition of the norm of XT we get for [1q 1 and [1q from above estimates vτ p L 1+τ n 1 n + 1 p+ n +γ p uv p Xτ vτ p L 1+τ n 1 n + 1 p+ n +γ p uv p Xτ uτ q L 1+τ n 1 n + 1 q+ n +γ 1q uv q Xτ uτ q L 1+τ n 1 n + 1 q+ n +γ 1q uv q Xτ. Withtheaimofprovingourdesiredestimate4.4wehavetoestimate t j l xu nl t L and t j l xv nl t L for j+l = 1 and jl N. For estimating the solution itself we apply the derived L r L m L r estimate in the interval [t] and divide the interval [t] into sub-intervals [t/] and [t/t] to get u nl t L 1+t τ n 1 m 1 r 1 n vτ p L L dτ 1+t n 1 n uv p Xt +1+t n 1 n + 1 p+ n +γ p uv p Xt From the available range of exponent p i.e. p if n p n n if n > 11 1+τ n 1 n + 1 p+ n t/ +γ p dτ 1+τ n 1 m 1 r 1 n dτ.
we observe that Making use of 4.7 we know 1 < 3 1 n n > n 1+t n 1 n γ1 u nl t L 1+t γ1 uv p Xt 1+τ n 1 n + 1 p+ n +γ p dτ +1+t 1 n 1 n + 1 p+ n +γ p γ 1 uv p Xt. 4.8 By an analogous way one can reveal 1+t n 1 n γ v nl t L r 1+t γ uv q Xt 1+τ n 1 n + 1 q+ n +1+t 1 n 1 n + 1 q+ n +γ 1q γ uv q Xt. +γ 1q dτ 4.9 To discuss the estimates of derivatives of the solution j + l = 1 we apply the derived L q L m L q estimates in the sub-interval [t/] and the derived L q L q in the sub-interval [t/t] to get and therefore j t l xu nl t L 1+t n 1 uv p Xt +1+t n 1 n + 1 p+ n +γ p uv p Xt 1+t n 1 γ 1 j t l x unl t L 1+t γ1 uv p Xt 1+τ n 1 n + 1 p+ n t/ 1dτ 1+τ n 1 n + 1 p+ n +1+t 1 n 1 n + 1 p+ n +γ p γ 1 uv p Xt. +γ p dτ +γ p dτ 4.1 Similarly one can get 1+t n 1 γ j t l x vnl t L 1+t γ uv q Xt 1+τ n 1 n + 1 q+ n +γ 1q dτ +1+t 1 n 1 n + 1 q+ n +γ 1q γ uv q Xt In order to prove the desired estimate 4.4 we have to distinguish between three cases. Case 1. We assume the condition i that is p > p bal n and q > p bal n. In this case the orders of power nonlinearities are above their corresponding balanced exponents. Thus it allows to assume no loss of decay i.e. γ 1 = γ =. From we have the estimate for u nl with j +l = 1 1+t n 1 n u nl t L +1+t n 1 j t l x unl t L uv p Xt 1+τ n 1 n + 1 p+ n +1+t 1 n 1 n + 1 p+ n uv p Xt 1 dτ
and for v nl with j +l = 1 1+t n 1 n v nl t L r +1+t n 1 j t l xv nl t L uv q Xt 1+τ n 1 n + 1 q+ n +1+t 1 n 1 n + 1 q+ n uv q Xt. dτ To get these uniformly bounded estimates for all t we only need to use our assumptions p > n+ n 1 n q > n+ n 1 n n n All in all the following estimates hold for j +l = 1 and jl N : they immediately complete the proof of n + 1 p+ n < 1 1 n + 1 q + n < 1. 1+t 1 j+l + n 1 m 1 r 1 j t l x unl t L uv p Xt 1+t 1 j+l + n 1 m r j t l x vnl t L uv q Xt Case. We assume the condition ii that is p p bal n and q > p bal n. Here thereexistsonlyoneexponentpbeloworequaltothebalancedexponentp bal n. Hence we shall prove a global in time existence of small data solution result with a loss of decay of solution < γ 1 = 1 n + 1 p bal n p if p < p bal n ǫ 1 if p = p bal n and γ =. Moreover we give the intersection condition +3+n 1 r α bal n q = q +1+n 1 pq < n pq We know from 4.8 and 4.1 that the use of our assumption p p bal n leads to 1+t γ1 1+τ n 1 and thus for j +l = 1 and jl N m n + 1 r 1 r p+ n dτ 1+t 1 n 1 m n + 1 r 1 r p+ n 1+t 1 j+l + n 1 m 1 r γ 1 1 j t l x unl t L uv p Xt. According to our assumption 4.1 which can be rewritten by 1+ n + 1+ n A q A 1 pq < where A 1 := n 1 n + 1 and A := n 1 n + 1 we obtain n 1 n + 1 q + n +γ 1 q < γ 1 1
Therefore the following estimates hold for j +l = 1 and jl N : 1+t 1 j+l + n 1 m r t j l xv nl t L uv q Xt. Case 3. We assume the condition iii that is p > p bal n and q p bal n. In this case there exists only one exponent q below or equal to the balanced exponent p bal n. So we can give a loss of decay of solution 1 n + 1 p bal n q if q < p bal n < γ = ǫ 1 if q = p bal n and γ 1 =. In addition the following intersection condition should be assumed: +3+n 1 r α bal n p = p+1+n 1 pq 1 < n pq 1. By following the same procedure as Case we immediately obtain the estimates for j+l = 1 and jl N 1+t 1 j+l + n 1 m 1 r 1 j t l x unl t L uv p Xt 1+t j+l + n 1 γ j t l x vnl t L uv q Xt. Lastly we prove the Lipschitz condition 4.3. No matter for which case we discuss in the above we also can repeat the following steps to get our desired estimates. We assume that uvū v are the elements from the space XT. Then we immediately obtain Nu Nūtx = E 1 t τx x vτx p vτx p dτ. Thanks to Hölder inequality we get the estimates for [1 ] vτ p vτ p L vτ vτ L p vτ p 1 L p + vτ p 1 L. p In the above we can use the classical Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality again to get the estimates of vτ vτ L p vτ L p and vτ L p. By the similar way we also can get the estimate of Nv N vtx in space XT. Then 4.3 has been proved and the proof of the theorem is completed Proof of Theore. Now we define the evolution space 4.5 with the norm uv XT := sup 1+t ˆγ 1 M1 tu+1+t ˆγ M tv 4.13 t [T] where ˆγ 1 ˆγ are defined by < ˆγ 1 = 1 n + ˆp bal n p if p < ˆp bal n ǫ 1 if p = ˆp bal n < ˆγ = 1 n + ˆp bal n q if q < ˆp bal n ǫ 1 if q = ˆp bal n 14
with ǫ 1 > being an arbitrary small constant and M 1 tu : = 1+t 1+n 1 ut L +1+t n 1 x ut L + u t t L M tv : = 1+t 1+n 1 vt L +1+t n 1 x vt L + v t t L. For one thing we also apply the derived L r L m L r estimate to the solution itself in the interval [t] and divide it into sub-intervals [ t/] and [t/ t]. For another to estimate the derivatives of the solution we use L r L m L r estimates in the sub-interval [t/] and L r L r estimates in the sub-interval [t/t]. Then we also need to distinguish between three cases. After that repeating the same step as the proof of Theore.1 we can prove our desired estimates 4.4 and 4.3. Thus the proof is complete Proof of Theore.3 Following the same philosophy of the proof of Theore.1 we also need to prove the estimates 4.4 and 4.3. We now define the evolution space XT := C[T]H 1 1 H1 C1 [T]L 1 L with the corresponding norm uv XT := sup 1+t γ 1 M1 tu+1+t γ M tv 4.14 t [T] where γ 1 γ to be chosen later and M 1 tu : = 1+t 1 ut L 1 + x ut L 1 + u t t L 1 +1+t max{1 n } ut L +1+t n x ut L + u t t L M tv : = 1+t 1 vt L 1 + x vt L 1 + v t t L 1 +1+t max{1 n } vt L +1+t n x vt L + v t t L. According to the Riesz-Thorin interpolation theorem and the definition of the norm of evolution space XT we get the following estimates for r [1 ] D vτ L r 1+τ n 1 r + γ uv Xτ 4.15 D uτ L r 1+τ n 1 r + γ1 uv Xτ By virtue 4.15 with r = p and 4.16 with r = q we may estimate for j +l = 1 and jl N 1+t 1+j+l γ1 j t l x unl t L 1 1+t γ1 uv p Xt 1+t 1+j+l γ j t l x vnl t L 1 1+t γ uv q Xt 1+τ n p 1+ γp dτ 1+τ n q 1+ γ1q dτ where we apply the derived L 1 L 1 estimates in the interval [t]. Todealwiththe solutioninl normwemayusethe derivedl L 1 L estimatesinthesub-interval [t/] and the derived L L estimates in the sub-interval [t/t] to get j t l x unl t L + 1+t τ 1 j+l n D vτ p L1 L dτ t/ 1+t τ 1 j+l D vτ p L dτ. 15
By using 4.15 and 4.16 again we immediately obtain for j +l = 1 and jl N 1+t max{1 n } γ1 u nl t L +1+t n γ1 j t l x unl t L 1+t γ1 uv p Xt 1+τ n p 1+ γp dτ +1+t 1+n n p+ γp γ1 uv p Xt 1+t max{1 n } γ v nl t L +1+t n γ j t l xv nl t L 1+t γ uv q Xt 1+τ n q 1+ γ1q dτ +1+t 1+n n q+ γ1q γ uv q Xt. Now due to the symmetry of the systems we only prove the case p q. The proof of the rest case p > q is completely analogous to the case p q. So we may distinguish two cases to prove our desired estimate 4.4. Case 1. We assume the condition i that is pq > p Fuj n. Here the orders of power nonlinearities are above the Fujita exponent. So it allows us to assume no loss of decay i.e. γ 1 = γ =. In order to obtain the uniformly bounded estimates for all t we have to use our assumptions Thus our desired estimate 4.4 holds. p > 1+ n = p Fujn n p 1 < 1 q > 1+ n = p Fujn n q 1 < 1. Case. We assume the condition ii that is p p Fuj n < q. In this case there exists only one exponent p below or equal to the Fujita exponent. It allows us to suppose a loss of decay < γ 1 = p Fujn p if p < p Fuj n if p = p Fuj n ǫ 1 and γ =. Moreover we assume the following intersection condition: q +1 pq 1 < n From our assumption p p Fuj n we have 1+t γ1 1+τ n p 1 dτ 1+t 1 n p 1 γ1 1. and thus for j +l = 1 and jl N the following estimates hold: 1+t 1+j+l γ1 j t l xu nl t L 1 uv p Xt 1+t 1+j+l+ n γ1 j t l x unl t L uv p Xt. According to our assumption 4.17 we obtain n q 1+ γ 1q < 1. Therefore the following estimates hold for j +l = 1 and jl N : 1+t 1+j+l j t l xv nl t L 1 uv q Xt 1+t 1+j+l+ n j t l x vnl t L uv q Xt. To prove the desired estimate 4.3 we follow the same procedure as the proof of Theore.1 by using 4.15 and Thus the proof is complete. 16
5. Concluding remarks The main objective of this paper is to show the existence of global in time solutions to weakly coupled systems 1.1 for any dimension n 1 with the initial data taking from u u 1 ;v v 1 H 1 L m1 L r1 L m1 H 1 L m L r L m for some 1 m j r j with j = 1. Here we restrict ourselves to classical energy with L r regularity. One may be interested in higher order energy only based on L norm. In other words one may consider the initial data belonging to the energy space with higher order u u 1 ;v v 1 H s1+1 L m1 H s1 L m1 H s+1 L m H s L m where s 1 s > and [1. The energy estimates of solutions to the linear problem 1. have been established in Corollary 3.. For same higher regular data and even not embedded in L s 1 = s = s < n we can apply the fractional Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality the fractional chain rule the fractional Leibniz rule cf. [ ]. Thus a new lower bound 1 + s and a new upper bound 1 + n s+1 if n s + 1 > for the exponents p and q come. For the large regular initial data with s > n it allows us to use the fractional powers cf. [6]. At this time we need to give a new lower bound 1+s for the exponents but there is not exists any upper bound. Furthermore if the initial data have different regularities s 1 s and then we can allow no loss of decay of solutions for large dimension n cf. [19 ].
