18 The measurements resolve the vertical and horizontal structure of the atmosphere: first to provide a high-resolution section of the atmosphere the QCL spectrometers are uniquely capable of making this kind of observation. The patterns provide new information about the locations and strengths of emissions of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere.
