Professional Experience Industrial Experience As a part of the Radiography team in NDE Modeling lab, I have gained experience in various aspects of physics based modeling of radiographic imaging, like X-Ray spectrum modeling, Radiation-matter interaction and detector modeling. I have also gained experience in Monte Carlo based study of X-ray photon transport in metals. Other experience involves use of positron

2 spectroscopy for materials characterization, study of new phosphor materials to be used for X-ray imaging. Academic Experience As Asst. Professor for Physics, I have some experience teaching undergraduate Physics courses for engineering students at NIT-Calicut. Research Experience As an Institute Fellow, IISc, I have some experience using first principles calculation of electronic structure of important electronic and magnetic materials using commercially available software packages like WIEN 2000, Abinit etc., specifically for half-metallic oxide materials and dilute magnetic semiconductors. (with Prof. D. D. Sarma, n Institute of Science) As a Research Fellow, Arizona State University, I have taken part in Development of Quantum Monte Carlo methods for electronic structure calculations, mainly Variational and Diffusion Monte Carlo for many electron systems, with the aim of simulating magnetic properties from first principles.(with Prof. John Shumway, Arizona State University) For my PhD thesis I have been involved in modeling of strongly correlated, lowdimensional systems like conjugated polymers and molecular magnets to study ground and excited state properties. As a part of this work, I have worked with numerical computation of excitation spectra for model Hamiltonians like Hubbard or Pariser-Parr-Pople models by Exact Diagonalization or Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG) methods. I have gained experience with computational approaches to sparse matrix eigenvalue and linear algebra problems encountered in quantum chemistry and condensed matter physics. Programming ability with languages like FORTRAN 77/90 and C++, familiarity with UNIX / LINUX environment. (with Prof. S. Ramasesha, n Institute of Science) Research and Educational Interests My research interests include large scale electronic structure calculations for molecules, solids and nano systems, strongly correlated systems, low dimensional materials, modeling of X-Ray scattering from metallic objects. I am keen to teach physics at both graduate and undergraduate level and involve myself in science curriculum development for schools.
