Doing so may result in damage to the LED. Always make sure the output voltage range and output current of the LED driver match the requirements of the LED fitting. Failure to do so may result in damage both the driver and fitting. Introduction The LDMX-PWM-2-VW (Figure 1) is a DMX receiver with two channels of PWM driven outputs for controlling Tunable White LED fittings, such as Digilin s Variwhite LED strip. The firmware specific to this device will allow the colour temperature to be adjusted whilist maintain the light level. The PWM outputs make use of Digilin s special smoothed PWM transitions software making variations in light output almost Powe DMX Activity Figure 1 Front and rear view of the LDM-PWM-2-VW. imperceptible even at low levels. In addition to DMX input, the LDMX-PWM-2-VW also has a connector for direct interfacing to Digilin s Colour Theme Controller, making a complete system simple to install and control. Page 2 of 9

For standard operation, simply connect 24V to the power connector, the led fittings to the PWM outputs (channel 1 is the warm channel, channel 2 is the cool channel) and either the Colour Theme Controller or a DMX source to control the light levels. Power DMX DMX Address 10 Figure 2 Connection diagram. Operation The LDMX-PWM-2-VW has a single 24VDC power supply. Once it is connected, the red power LED shown in Figure 2 will come on. If the unit is receiving good communications, the green DMX activity LED will also be on. Setting Address The DMX address is set using the first 9 switches of the DMX address switch. The address is set as a binary number (with switch 1 the LSB, Appendix A lists addresses and their corresponding switch settings). As the unit is a 2 channel receiver, it will respond to data in the set address, and the following address in the DMX data stream. Therefore, the address should not be set to over 511. Note: that to use a Colour Theme Controller, the address must be set to 1. Page 3 of 9

4 DMX Data Format The LDMX-PWM-2-VW uses 2 channels of data as given in the table below. DMX Channel Data 1 Colour Temperature 2 Dim Level Notes Sets the ratio of warm to cool white from 0 (100% warm white) to 255 (100% cool white). Sets the brightness level of the connected LED fitting from 100% (DMX 255) to off (DMX 0). Using With Colour Theme Input In order to connect a Colour Theme Controller, the DMX address should be set to 1 and the Input Select Switch (switch 10 of the DMX address switch, as shown in Figure 1) should be in the up position. When data is being correctly received, the green LED should be on. It is possible to connect further DMX receivers to this unit. They should be configured to operate with a standard DMX input (not a Colour Theme Input) with the DMX address set to 1. Using With DMX Input To use the LDMX-PWM-2-VW with a DMX feed simply set the desired address and connect the DMX feed to the DMX input. Remember to terminate the DMX feed at the end of the chain with a 120Ω resistor between the DMX + & - lines. When data is being correctly received, the green LED should be on. Test Mode The LDMX-PWM-2-VW has test mode which ramps each individual output up to full brightness then back off in sequence. This test mode is entered by setting the DMX address to 0 (all switches down). While in this mode, any incoming DMX data is ignored. Once the address is changed from 0, the unit will complete the current cycle of the test, then return to normal operation. Fallback Output By default, the LDMX-PWM-2-VW outputs will be set at 50% for all channels at start-up and loss of DMX signal. Page 4 of 9
