2 Page 2 INTRODUCTION This is a report of student retentions for the school year excluding special education and alternative education centers. Postgraduates and students who attend Family and Early Childhood Education (FECEP) or preschool programs are also excluded. Inquiries regarding this report should be directed to Information Technology at
3 Page 3 SUMMARY Retentions for the school year were 1.07 percent of the student end-of-year membership. The retention rate is a decrease of 0.43 percentage points over the past five years. See page 4. At the elementary level, K-6, the county retention rates ranged from 0.02 percent in fifth grade to 0.73 percent in kindergarten. See Table I, page 7. At the middle school level, 6-8, county retention rate, by grade level, was 0.11 percent for sixth grade, 0.35 percent for seventh grade, and 0.35 percent for eighth grade. See Table I, page 7. At the high school level, 9-12, county retention rates ranged from 1.41 percent for tenth grade to 5.09 percent for eleventh grade. See Table I, page 7. The median retention rate for elementary schools was 0.14 percent. Retention rates among elementary schools ranged from 0.00 percent to 2.17 percent. See Table II, pages The median retention rate for middle schools was 0.00 percent. Retention rates among middle schools ranged from 0.00 percent to 3.08 percent. See Table III, page 12. The median retention rate for high schools was 2.45 percent. Retention rates among high schools ranged from 0.06 percent to percent. See Table IV, page 13. The percentage of retained students who were promoted the following year or graduated from summer school was See Table V, page 14.
