Please note the local safety instructions! Before using the controller, please check if the unit fits the application. Before applying voltage to the controller: Make sure that all wiring has been made in accordance with the wiring diagram in this manual. Check, if the supply voltage corresponds to the value printed on the unit's type label. If transformers are used ( xxx only): ever connect secondary coil of the transformer to! Always connect the terminal to! Please pay attention to the specified Temperature-/Humidity imits. Outside these limits malfunctions may occur. ever operate unit without housing. In case of malfunction please contact our technical support. Please note maximum load of relay contacts (see technical data). Important! Please note the starting-currents and current timing of the load. Sensor leads should be shielded cable with one end of the shielding connected to ground. This avoids irregular switching caused by electro-magnetic interference. The wire gauge of the sensor cables is not critical, if it should be lenghtened, 0,5 sqmm are adequate. Mounting the controller close to power relays is unfavourable in case of the electro-magnetic interference. Please note that TF-type temperature sensors are water-proof but not pressure protected.

3 Technical Manual x700 page 3 Operating Operating Elements Parameters All selectable parameters hold a parameter number (e.g. P03), you will find a listing on the next page. Calling up and editing Press key 'P'... parameter number appears Use 'ñ/ò'... select desired parameter Press "P" again... parameter value appears Use keys 'ñ/ò'... adjust parameter value Press 'P' again... value is stored, back to parameter no. Alarm flashing: delay runs Unlock Keys To prevent un-authorized persons from editing parameter values, there is a locking function which allows only the most important parameters to be changed at any time. All other parameters must be unlocked before: Press key "P"... parameter number appears Use "ñ/ò"... select code parameter (P0) Press "P" again... parameter value appears Use "ñ"... set value to Press "P" again... value is stored, back to parameter no. If no key is pressed for about four minutes, the access code is cancelled and the editing function is locked automatically. ote: After you have entered Code "70" (for changing parameters of the basic configuration) all control functions will be disabled. The control function will be enabled first after the code is changed manually (e.g. to "88" for changing other parameters) or automatically after minutes. Special displays: Display shows 'off', controller is disabled via control input O or interface. If disabled via interface, the controller can be 'waked up' manually by pressing key "ò" for > 3 seconds. Display flashes, positive value: Sensor broken or value above the specified temperature range. Display flashes, negative value: Sensor short circuit or value below the specified range. Installation / Start-up Read Safety Instructions! If the unit is switched O, the display shows the actual value of sensor. After you have entered the matching acces code (see parameter listing) you have to set the basic parameters: l Enter Access Code '70' at P0 This was the basic configuration, now you can enter the specific setpoints, times, etc. Display Adjust To calibrate the two actual value displays, use parameters P3 resp. 6 page 6 Technical Manual x700 Functional Description Signal Input The controller unit can work with the two temperature sensor types TF 0 and TF 50 (Pt000). This must be preset by parameter P5. The sensor type which should be used depends on the application: Temperature control, Range < 80 C (76 F) = TF 0 (PTC) or TF 50 (Pt000) Temperature control, Range up to 300 C = matching Pt000-type only Actual Value- and Status Display Temperature values can be displayed in C or F. This will be preset together with the sensor type. P0 shows the measured value of sensor. If other parameters are selected, minutes after the last keypress P0 will be displayed automatically. In operating mode 3+ P0 shows the measured value of sensor. In operating mode 'Differential control' P03 shows additionally the differential value between sensor and. Display Correction The Actual Value Display P0 can be calibrated by P3, the Actual Value Display P0 can be calibrated by P. Sensor Failures If one of the temperature sensors fail (broken or short circuit), then the display flashes and the according relays will be deactivated immediately. Additionally, an alarm delay time (P6) starts. After this timer is run down, the alarm relay will be activated, if available. Operating Modes The controller knows different operating modes, which can be preset by P9: P9 = : 3 Stages + Alarm. sens P0 P05 K sens P06 K3 K In this mode you realize a 3-stage controller, relay K works as a closed circuit alarm relay, sensor input is disabled. The value of sensor will be compared with P0, P05 and P06, the relays, K or K3 switch depending on the deviation. Control setpoint is always an absolute value, the following setpoints can be either relative values or absolute values (preset by P08). Relative values = Stage switches in a specific distance to the leading setpoint P0. If P0 will be changed, the relative setpoints will be changed the same amount. P9 = : -stage controller sens P0 P05 K sens P06 K3 P07 K Sensor input is disabled in this mode. The value of sensor will be compared with P0, P05, P06 and P07, the relays, K, K3 or K switch depending on the deviation. Control setpoint is always an absolute value, the following setpoints can be either relative values or absolute values (preset by P08). P9 = 3 : Double -Stage Controller sens sens Sensor affects the control setpoints / (= relays /K = control circuit ). Control setpoint is the control circuit control circuit leading setpoint of control circuit, P0 P05 K P06 K3 P07 K control setpoint can be either absolute or relative (P08). Sensor affects the control setpoints 3- (= relays K3-K = control circuit ). Control setpoint 3 is the leading setpoint of control circuit, control setpoint can be either absolute or relative (P08). P9 = sens Diff. P0 Switching Hysteresis Differential Controller The calculated differential amount from "sensor minus sensor " will be compared with P0. Relay switches, if the preset value (P0) + hysteresis (P8)is reached. The relay switches off again, if the differential amount decreases and reaches P0. The stages (relay K, P05, assigned to sensor ) and 3 (relay K3, P06, assigned to sensor ), can work independly as single stage controllers. Relay K works as a closed circuit alarm relay. With P8 you set a switching hysteresis, which affects all setpoints. The position of this hysteresis (above/below the setpoint) depends on the selected switching characteristics (P0-P3) of the single relays. Setpoint imits To prevent that the final user adjusts the setpoints to an inadmissible value, the setpoint range can be limited by P6 and P7. Day-/ight Mode / Setpoint Offset / nd Setpoint For e.g. energy saving purposes can be switched to another setpoint at any time. P/P5 represents a period of time within all setpoints will be shifted by the amount of P09. Control Input OK can also be programmed to activate this offset (P9=). An active nd setpoint is indicated by a flashing decimal point. Upper alarm Temper. P7 (relative) ower alarm temper. P8 (absolute) P05 K sens P06 K3 alarm after P6 is run down temperature flow K alarm after P6 is run down Temperature Alarm If the temperature value measured with sensor exceeds the range set by P7 and P8, then the alarm relay will be activated after the delay timer P6 is run down. Parameter P shows the remaining time up to an alarm. P8 (lower limit) is an absolute value, P7 is always a relative value in a distance to the actual setpoint (P0 + potential shift).

7 Technical Manual x700 page 7 Relay Switching Characteristic The Switching Characteristic of the relay -K is defined by the parameters P0 thru P3. The following characteristics are possible: =RE (Refrigeration) Recommended for applications above 0 C (3 F). The load will be connected to the /O-contact. relay O realy OFF cold setpoint hysteresis warm Control Input (Optocoupler Input) The Control Input (Optocoupler Input) O is normally connected to mains voltage. If the voltage switches off, the controller unit activates the task preset by P9. If P9 is set to '0', no voltage is necessary. The type 700 has no optocoupler input, the function must be initiated by opening an external, potential free /C-contact connected to terminals 8 and9.! ever connect any voltage to this terminals! This external contact must be suitable for 5V DC/ ma). =FR (Freezing) Recommended for applications below 0 C (3 F). The load will be connected to the /Ccontact, so the load runs continuously after mains voltage is lost or a unit failure. OTE: ot available at relays -3 in type 700. cold relay O relay OFF setpoint hysteresis warm 0= Control Input is de-activated = o voltage (700: contact open) at input O activates the setpoint shift (day/night mode). The setpoint will be increased or decreased by the amount of P09. = o voltage (700: contact open) at input O initiates an external alarm. After P6 is run down, the alarm relay will be activated. 3 =HT (Heating) Recommend for heating applications, the load will be switched off after mains voltage is lost or a unit failure. Minimum Idle-Time relay O relay OFF cold hysteresis setpoint warm 3= o voltage (700: contact open) at input O disables all control functions, the display shows "off". Before this functions will be enabled, an additional time delay must run down, this timer can be set by P30. P shows the remaining time up to the function starts. If a load is switched off by a relay, this relay can be switched on again not before the time set with P0 is over. P0 affects all relay stages. The indicator ED's of the single stages flashes while this idle time runs. etworking of -controllers All controllers can be networked via their builtin RS-85-interface. This network can be controlled by a host unit. ormally this host is a PC with a qualified software which allows remote control of units and recording of all parameters. Because all units are connected parallel to the data cable (party-line), every unit has its own network address (P39) to ensure a specific communication. The communication speed is fixed with P38, (Default value: 9600 Baud). Attention! ote polarity while connecting cables! T = sensor common terminal shielding T T T T 5 cm max. 8 page 8 Technical Manual x700 Voltage Output / Analog Output This generation contains an analogue output with a 0-0 V DC-signal. Because the output is scalable, it can be used either to forward the actual value of sensor (P0) or as a proportional /PIcontroller output. P3 = Output works inversely proportional, that means rising temperature ð falling output voltage. The values set by P3/P3 work relative to the current setpoint (P0 + offset). P3... describes the temperature (resp. differential amount) the output voltage amounts 0V DC. P3... describes the temperature (resp. differential amount) the output voltage amounts 0V. P33... describes the integral part (I-part) of the output signal in 5 steps from appr. 0,5 to minutes or switches this part off. Analog Output Modes P3 fixes the Analog Output Mode. Example: P3 = 0 C, P3 = -0 C P3 = 3, P0 = 5 C, no current shift Output Voltages: 0V at P0 + P3 = 5 C 0V at P0 - P3 = 5 C Example: Actual value Image You need a remote display or similar, which shows -50 C with 0V DC input voltage and +50 C with 0V DC input voltage. P3 = "-50", P3 = "+0", P3 must be "". P3 = 0 P3 = P3 = P3 = 3 Output is de-activated. Output works proportional, that means rising temperature ð rising output voltage. P3/P3 are absolute values. This valve should be half open at 5 C. If the temperature falls, the valves should open, if the temperature passes 0 C it must be full open. If the temperature rises, the valve should be closed, with 0 C and above it should remain closed. P3 ="0.0", P3 ="0.0", P3 ="" In Operating Mode 'Differential Controller' the output voltage depends on the calculated differential amount.
