1 New Coupled Common Fixed Point for Four Mappings satisfying Rational Contractive Expression H K Nashine 1, A Gupta 2 1 Department of Mathematics, Amity University, Manth Kharora, Raipur-(Chhattisgarh), India address: drhknashine@gmailcom 2 Department of Mathematics, Dr CVRaman University, Bilaspur,Chhattisgarh, India address: aunita1788@rediffmailcom Abstract The aim of this paper is to obtain new coupled common fixed point theorems for two pairs of w-compatible self maps satisfying rational contractive condition in metric spaces which is not wholly complete Our result generalizes improves related results existing in the literature Two examples are given in support to show the usability of our results Keywords: Coupled fixed point, w-compatible maps, complete metric space Subject Classification: 47H10, 54H25 1 Introduction: As the Banach contraction principle is a power tool for solving many problems in applied mathematics sciences, it has been improved extended in many ways It is well known that the metric fixed point theory is still very actual, important useful in all area of Mathematics It can be applied, for instance in variational inequalities, optimization, dynamic programming, approximation theory, etc The well-known Banach contraction theorem plays a major role in solving problems in many branches in pure applied mathematics The Banach contraction mapping is one of the pivotal results of analysis It is a famous tool for solving existence problems in various fields of mathematics There are a lot of generalizations of the Banach contraction principle in the literature [2, 3, 11] Ran Reurings [11] extended the Banach contraction principle in partially ordered sets H K Nashine 1, A Gupta 2 Page 1
2 with some applications to linear nonlinear matrix equations Nieto Rod riguez-l opez [10] extended the result of Ran Reurings applied their main theorems to obtain a unique solution for a first order ordinary differential equation with periodic boundary conditions One of the interesting & crucial concepts of fixed point theorem is introduced in 1987 by Guo & Laksmikantham [4] as a notion of coupled fixed point In 2006 Bhaskar Lakshmikantham [1] reconsidered the concept of a coupled fixed point of the mapping investigated some coupled fixed point theorems in partially ordered complete metric spaces Bhaskar Lakshmikantham also proved mixed monotone property for the first time gave their classical coupled fixed point theorem for mapping which satisfy the mixed monotone property As, an application, they studied the existence uniqueness of the solution for a periodic boundary value problem associated with first order differential equation B S Choudhury, Meitya P Das [2] gave coupled common fixed point theorem for a family of mappings Many other results on coupled fixed point theory exist in the literature, for more details, we refer the reader to [4, 5, 7, 8, 10] In this paper, we obtain a unique common coupled fixed point theorem for two pair of w-compatible self maps satisfying rational contractive condition in metric spaces without considering completeness of whole space Our result generalizes improves related results existing in the literature Our result generalizes improves a theorem of Nashine Zoran et al [8] in metric space setting 2 PRELIMINARIES First we recall some definitions used throughout the paper Definition 21 [5] Let be a nonempty set let a mapping An element is said to be a coupled fixed point of if It is clear that is a coupled fixed point of if only if is a coupled fixed point of Definition 22 [4] An element is called H K Nashine 1, A Gupta 2 Page 2
