19 kmaq-lyt a h-ip v kmaqlyt a hip v ^m. txmakv axn-e-i v kn.-fw.-sf., Iu kn-eà kmaq-ly-t a hip- v. kvt\l-zqxv On December 21, 2017 a unique and very special Christmas celebration was organized by Social Apostolate Department at Sevagram Special School, Vettimukal, Kottayam. It s novelty, originality and creativity are in its concept and execution. Special Schools are often sidelined by the main stream of the society as if they do not exist! These less fortunate members of the society are left to the mercy and goodwill of individuals and organisations by the government and the society at large. The privileges enjoyed by the rest of society are often denied to these students. Snehadooth was an attempted bring to the attention of the society and the privileged students the existence and talents of the differently abled students. CMI St Joseph Province, Kottayam, has established three special schools, namely Sevagram -Vettimukal, Vikas Vidyalaya - Kottayam and Chavaragiri - Parappu. These three special schools are financially supported by three prestigious English Medium schools run by St Joseph Province, Kottayam namely, Chavara Public School - Pala, Marygiri Public School - Koothattukulam, and Chavara ICSC School - Amanakara. A group of the staff, students and parents of the foster schools were given a chance to join the students, staff and parents of the three special schools. They were given opportunity to sing, dance and mingle which culminated with a common Christmas meal. A OR 17

20 kmaq-lyt a h-ip v His Excellency. Bp. Mar Jacob Murickan, Aux. Bp of Pala, Adv. Suresh Kurup MLA, Fr. Sebastian Elenjickal, Provincial, Fr. Mani Puthiyidam, MD Deepika, were the chief guests. Fr. Thomas Mathilakathu CMI, Councilor of Social Apostolate and Fr. Kurian Perumpallikunnel, Director - Sevagram joined hands to realize this novel vision. It was a rare opportunity for the special school students to meet their counterparts in normal schools and demonstrate their talents, while the normal school students, their parents and staff members got an opportunity to open their eyes towards the realities of life and their social responsibilities towards the less fortunate. This Christmas celebration helped the participants to go back home with a new vision and new mission in mind. Snehadooth was a real celebration in order to bridge the chasms and breakdown the walls that divide God s children. Snehadooth-2017 was a reminder to all its participants that we are not alone and we are blessed in order to become blessings to our brethren. OKHI RELIEF FUND ASWAS Our province through Social Apostolate Department has announced a special Project to OKHI RELIEF FUND called ASWAS. As a result of this project province has contributed Rs.10 Lakh and handed over the Cheque to Arch Bishop Susai Pakiam, Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum. Rev. Fr. Thomas Mathilakakathu CMI, Councilor for Social Apostolate, Fr. Bobby Vadayattukunnel CMI, Councillor for Finance and Fr. Chandy Kizhakkayil CMI, Auditor, represented the province and visited the houses of grief stricken families and prayed with them. 27 A month with full of events in the school calendar has just gone away. The days were filled with Annual day celebrations, Sent offs and Jubilee Celebrations. Annual day celebrations in the school were a time of great sharing and team work. Fostering team work is creating a work culture that values collaborations. In a team work environment people understand and believe that thinking, planning decisions and actions are better when done cooperatively. People recognise and even assimilate the belief that none of us is as good as all of us. Sincere appreciation to all for the exemplary team work in our institution. Now the entire concentration is to be shifted to Annual Examinations. It is not that you read a book, pass the examination and finish with education. The whole of life from the moment you are born to the moment you die is a process of learning. It s not about winning and losing. It s about every day hard work and about thriving on a challenge. It s about embracing the pain that you will experience at the end of a race and not being afraid. A few of our teachers who have been an amazing experience for many generations are retiring this year. We will all remember their positivism and energy with which they committed their life for the generations. 53 HmÀ-½n- m³ Chain Adoration (PG/CIR No.) The Year 2018 is the providential year for the Renewal of CMI family. Unless we renew and update ourselves will be irrelevant and in turn will lose energy and passion and cease to exist. Once in three years, CMI family goes through a process of introspection and selfdiscovery and makes the right discernment for a life and mission ahead. Hence let us make us of this opportunity to be renewed CMIs with Contemplative spirit, Missionary Heart and Immaculate Living. We are called to change the world, and ourselves, by our response to unexpected opportunities and graces given by the Lord. In our efforts to become Mission centred CMIs, let us make our spirituality, community life and mission relevant to the times and respond creatively to the cry of the poor and the earth and address the challenges of the Children, Youth and Families. Following the legacy of St.Kuriakose Elias Chavara, our beloved founder, let us be with the Eucharistic Lord to pray for the effectiveness of our renewal program. Chain adoration gives us a great opportunity to connect with the CMI communities and strengthen each other through our intercessory prayers Requesting everyone to participate actively in our Chain Adoration Yours fraternally in the Lord Fr.
