Are defined as devices that links the edges of two adjacent bridge decks, or a bridge edge with the end of the bridge; so that, allow movements maintaining a flat and even surface. Las condiciones que deben cumplir estos tipos de juntas son: The conditions required for these expansion joints are: Elasticidad, para acompañar los movimientos sin agrietarse o transmitir esfuerzos inadmisibles en los tableros. Elasticity, to move without cracking or transmitting unacceptable stresses to the bridge decks. Impermeabilidad, evitando cualquier filtración y proporcionando un sellado adecuado. Waterproofing, preventing leaks and providing a proper seal. Resistance, to bear without crack or excessive wear the effect of impact and abrasion due to traffic. They consist of a steel structure covered with vulcanized rubber, allowing the absorption of contraction and expansion movement of the bridge decks. The module edges are fixed with bolts using epoxy resins, and are reinforced with washers and locking nuts. Each Joint has been designed to withstand long loading cycles (compression-expansion), as well as to support the absorption of effort, reducing force transmission to anchor system.
