When capacitors are operated at temperatures other than +105, and frequency other than 120 Hz, the maximum rms ripple currents must be multiple by the factors shown in below table. Temperature: Temperature Multiplier Ripple voltage: Ripple voltage must not exceed the following: The sum of the voltage plus the AC ripple voltage must not exceed the rated DC voltage. The DC voltage plus the peak AC voltage must not cause a voltage reversal more than 1.5 voltage. 3. Insulating: General types of aluminum electrolytic capacitors are covered with a vinyl sleeve or the like. And this sleeve is used for marking. When the internal element or the container is needed to be insulated, capacitors specially designed for insulation requirement are recommended to be used. 4. Soldering: 4.1. When soldering a printed circuit board with various components, too high soldering temperature or too long dipping times may cause secondary shrinking of the sleeve which unnecessarily exposes the container. Soldering is allowed to perform at less than 260 for less than 10 seconds Soldering may melt or break the sleeve, if the sleeve is contacted with circuit patterns. To avoid this trouble, the capacitors are recommended to be slightly apart from the circuit boards. 5. High Altitude: These capacitors are capable of withstanding in transit conditions where storage temperature may range from -40 to +105 and the altitude may reach 200,000 feet. 6. Cleaning agents: Halogenated hydrocarbon cleaning solvents are not recommended for use in cleaning capacitors supplied with exposed end seals. Whenever cleaning with a halogenated solvent is desired, capacitors should be ordered with a Epoxy-coated end seal

Scope: Specification is applied for HV series -chip Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor designed for reflow soldering and high density mounting commercial applications. 2. Standard Test Condition: Unless otherwise specified, all tests shall be performed at ambient temperature of 20 2 and a relative humidity of 65 5%. 3.Electrical Requirements: 3.1 Operating temperature range: -40 to Rated working voltage range: DC 6.3 to 50 V 3.3 Capacitance range and tolerance : measured at 120Hz, to 1000 F, 20% 3.4 Dissipation Factor: When measured at 120Hz, +20 W.V. (V) D.F. (tan Leakage Current: After DC voltage is applied to capacitors through a series protective resistor of 1 K, so that terminal voltage may reach the rated use voltage. The leakage current measured at 2 minutes shall be below the value of the following equation. Capacitance Change: Within 30% of initial value.( 25% for 8,10) Dissipation Factor: Less than 300% of the specific value in 3.4. ( 200% for 8, 10) Leakage Current: Shall be within the limits of 3.5 Appearance: No leakage and physical damage. 3.7 Shelf Life: According to JIS-C-5142 (1991) NO methods, after 1000 hours test at +105 without rated working voltage applied, the characteristic shall meet the specific value for load life test characteristics listed above.

5 PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS PAGE : 2/ High and Low Temperature Characteristic: According to JIS-C-5141 (1991) NO methods, capacitor shall be placed in an oven, a. At -40, capacitors shall retain at least 70% of their original capacitance measured at 20. At +105, DF shall not increase to more than 120% of their original value measured at 20. b. At 40, impedance (Z) shall not increase to more than the value listed below, (measured at 120HZ) Rated Voltage (WV) Z -25 /Z Z -40 /Z c. At +105, the leakage current shall not increase to more than 5 times of their original value measured at Surge Voltage Test: According to JIS-C-5141 (1991) No methods, after surge voltage applied at a cycling rate of 0.5 minute on and 5.5 minutes off for 1000 successive test cycles, the characteristic change shall meet the following requirements. Capacitance Change : retain more than 80% of initial value. Dissipation Factor : not exceeding 150% of the specific value in 3.4. Leakage Current : shall be within the limits of 3.5. Appearance : no leakage and physical damage Vibration: According to JIS-C- 5141(1991) No methods, use test frequency of Hz (Approximately 1 minute), 3 directions of X, Y and Z, each 2 hours. Performance of parts shall not have changed, or breakage Solderability Test: According to JIS-C-5141 (1991) No methods, after the lead wire fully immersed into solder for seconds at a temperature of 235 5, the solder coating must be more than 90% Solder Heat-Resistance: According to JIS-C-5141 (1991) No methods, after the lead wire fully immersed into solder for 10 1 seconds at a temperature of 260 5, capacitance shall be within the limit of 10% of the original value and no physical damage Temperature Cycle: According to JIS-C-5141 (1991) No.: methods, capacitor shall be placed in an oven, the conditions according as below: Temperature Time (1) +20 (2) Rated low temperature(-40 ) ± (3) +20 (4) Rated high temperature( +105 ) ± * (1) to (4) = 1 cycle, total 10 cycles

Appearance : No leakage and physical damage Humidity Test: According to JIS-C-5141 (1991) No methods, capacitors shall be exposed in an atmosphere of %RH at 40 2 for hours, the characteristic change shall meet the following requirement. Capacitance Change : Within 10 % of initial value. Dissipation Factor : Within the limit of 3.4. Leakage Current : Within the limit of 3.5. Appearance : No leakage and physical damage. 4. Marking: Capacitor shall be marked with Capacitance, Rated Working Voltage, Negative polarity, Series, and Date Code. All marking shall be legible and permanent. 9 PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS PAGE: 6/ 7 8 Packing 8.1 Capacitors on tape are reeled as shown in unreeling tape direction with the cathode side adjacent to the sprocket hole in the carrier tape as shown in Fig-1 Fig The cover tape width will extend the edge of the carrier tape less than 0.5mm as shown in Fig-2. The cover tape will cover the sprocket holes on the carrier tape less than 0.75mm as shown in Fig-3. Fig-2 Fig Splicing of the carrier tape can be done as shown in Fig-4, overlaying the carrier tape for the direction of feed on the other side of tape and overlapping two of the end embossments each other. The overlapped embossments will be crushed. Three splicing in one reel are the maximum allowance.

10 PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS PAGE : 7/ The cover tape will have a peel back force of 20 to 100 grams measured at angle of 165 o to 180 o with respect to the carrier tape as shown in Fig-5. The peeling speed will be 300 mm/min. 9. Temperature profile Pre-heating shall be done less than +160 lasting 120 seconds. The temperature at capacitor top shall not exceed +260 The duration of over +230 temperature at capacitor top shall not exceed 30 seconds. The standard temperature profile differs from each reflow methods. If capacitors are subject to the conditions beyond the allowable range of reflow, please contact us.
