Inerted void spaces and ballast tanks In order to maintain inert gas pressure and avoid water entering, a combined aircap and pressure/vacuum valve is available, type M. Please refer to its separate specification. Each type of aircap is tested and approved in accordance with classification society requirements. All types can be fitted with finemeshed wire gauze easily removable for cleaning, inspection or renewal, yet fully protected behind a cover. In some cases, a wire gauze is required for tanks where anodes for cathodic protection are installed. Rules differ on this issue. Please consult in each case. All Pres-Vac aircaps are made in solid castings for greater lifetime and feature compact dimensions, actually the smallest overall sizes available. For sizing, please refer to class requirements and request pressure resistance curves based on water. Type MP features a rigid construction enabling semisubmergible operation on rigs. Type SON is available in a high capacity execution suitable for offshore installation in ballast systems. Certification New test regulations require pressure drop in case of overfilling to be established and tight closing when inclined 0º. Capacity curves available upon request. Pres-Vac aircaps are tested and approved to latest IACS standards, including requirements for Dutch flag vessels.
