2 Eligibility MPhil ADMISSIONS MPhil / PhD Year DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS UNIVERSITY OF THE PUNJAB, LAHORE 1) MSc / BS 4 years or equivalent degree with 1 st Division / CGPA 2.5 in the relevant subject from a recognized University (16 years of education: 130 credit hours) as per HEC rules. 2) The condition of third division in Matric/FSc/ BSc or equivalent certificates/ degrees is omitted. 3) The restriction regarding two second divisions in an academic career is waved off but not for terminal degree (16 year education), where first division is mandatory i.e. the requirement for M.Phil. Eligibility PhD 1) MPhil/MS or equivalent degree with 1 st Division / CGPA 3.0 after acquisition of 18 years of education. 2) The condition of third division in Matric/FSc/BSc or equivalent certificates/ degrees is omitted. 3) The restriction regarding two second divisions in an academic career is waved off but not for terminal degree (18 year education), where first division is mandatory i.e. the requirement for PhD. An applicant shall be judged on the basis of the following criteria for admission in the Department of Physics: 1. Academic qualification - 40 Marks (See * on page 3.) 2. Written/ Entry Test - 40 Marks. 3. Publications in HEC approved journals (1 mark per publication) Max. Marks Professional experience in relevant field (1 mark for each year of job in the relevant field / as per departmental preference) Max. Marks Interview (Comprehension of the subject, general aptitude for research) Max. Marks -10 Minimum marks for qualifying written test & interview separately - 50%. Only those candidates who qualify the written test will be called for the interview. The written test shall consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) from the following subjects.
